Never experienced battery drain prior to Lynx update. First ride in Lynx: from CA 30% down to 1 in approximately 10 minutes....

quite annoying when you miss last 18km of a 220km ride :-(

Couldn’t read anything about a fix in latest update (yesterday ) and I couldn’t find it in the open point list that was given in update info mail.

So did sth change in latest update or not ? Or will it be on list of Open points?

Our should I better take a battery pack with me? (Got a 300km Ride/Race in two weeks so I was hoping for a solution with this update)

This morning, the battery of my Karoo was at 1%. I had just over 70% yesterday evening. So the battery drained that fast by just being on my desk. No activities done.

    Build version: 1.5.19.3

One day later, in the evening, I return to my desk to find the battery of the Karoo completely drained. This is something that will hopefully be fixed very soon. For me the battery drain started after the upgrade to 1.5.19.3. Didn't have it like that before the upgrade.

@Jay, mine is charging as we speak. Currently at 35%. I just pressed the power button long enough for the Karoo to start booting. Seems to work fine for me.

Thank you for the info Ringo.

Hmmm... yeah mine won’t even charge. Support says my issue is same as this one but it doesn’t seem to be the case. I wouldn’t be surprise if a fuse in mine blew or something.... I hope they replace it for me because I don’t see how I can even patch the Karoo with a new software if it won’t even charge

The blog article on the mid-May update explicitly stated that this update did not contain a fix yet for the battery draining:

    https://blog.hammerhead.io/software-updates-for-mid-may-1b1c34455338

See the first item in the section "Known Issues Remaining"

"Battery life can reduce at an accelerated rate after a ride when Karoo is just sitting in sleep mode for some riders."

    Dear Ringo,

thanks for reply. If this includes my problem, then it shall be fine. But with me draining happens during ride, not after or when Karoo is in sleep mode.

    Dear All,

I don't know whether this issue is solved by yesterday's update. But I found a way to reduce battery consumption which helped me a lot last weekend during 300km ride. Thus i'd like to share:

If you don't need your map, then set up a set of "pages" that does not include the map. By this, I had 35% of pattery after more than 9hours of usage of device.

Philipp, thanks!  Know if this works if you have the map included in the page set but almost never look at it?

Actually, the first time it happened to me was on a 200km ride where i did not look at all on the map as i was with a group. So i suppose it does not work. I know that garmin shows a significant difference whether you look on the map or not. And karoo seems to do so, too, but with not having the map in the set of pages, it is much better.

Today once more, I started a ride at 34% battery power left. Within 30 minutes, the ride was terminated (Autosaved), because the battery power had dropped to 1%. However, when I switched Karoo back on without recharging, the device was still on for another 40 minutes at 1% before the battery was really dead... Seems to me (at least partly) also add a calibration issue...

Any news on the battery problem? Mine still drains very fast, even just by laying on my desk.
