Position marker (arrow) on the bottom.
AnsweredPlease change position of arrow on map (First photo what it’s look like, second how it should be in my opinion) :-) thanks!

+1 indeed!
It took me a while to figure out what's "wrong" with the in-ride map view on the Karoo 2. I kept having to zoom in/out, while on my trusty old Wahoo Bolt with tiny monochrome screen I hardly needed to zoom at all.
Even when using a map with a single row of data fields on top (which causes a huge waste of display space, but that's another topic) I keep struggling with the zoom level. This is really caused by the inefficient centering method of the map. While navigating there is no need to have the map centered. Using 50% of the screen to display the route you have already travelled does not make sense. It should be ~80/20 so the majority of the map will display the oncoming route.
Somewhat offtopic, but changing the map to (a bit more) 3D also makes a difference as this allows you to see more of the oncoming route. I'm wondering if a lot of people are aware of this function, because who reads the manual / help 😁

Hi Anna, I understand also your usecase. Depending on what mpa orientation the rider uses it would make sense to have the option to toogle between arrow positions.
Therefore I would suggest that the arrow-symbol in the lower left corner (A) would get the function to toggle between rider-arrow positions.
And the little compass in the upper right corner would switch between map orientations (norh-up / driving-direction-up).

Hi Hammerhead, I want to support this older request and ask for the status. Up to date the position of the arrow is still pretty close to the middle. This means the lower part of the screen is lost useless for navigation.
Especially when you add some datafields to the map-screen, you don't see a lot of route-line anymore. If there is any reason why HH wants this position, it would be nice if you could at least build in an option in the settings to move it down.
Thanks and greets, Andreas -
Good Morning guys, I love this suggestion from Andreas. Also from my point of view the actual two compass needle buttons (lower left and upper right corner) are confusing...to me the different functions are not clear... Andi's suggestion makes sense.
By the way, is Hammerhead reading these posts? I have the feeling they are not...
@Hammerhead ??

Hi Richard, Benno, thanks for your reply. When switching the data fields to the bottom, the map moves up but the arrow position in the map stays the same, so no improvement for my needs.
As Benno mentions, we all have different use cases. Benno seems to do a lot of MTB-Trailriding, for this usecase I agree (I also ride MTB from time to time).
For other use cases, like navigation on road tours I'm more interested in what comes ahead than what was behind me.To meet all our riders needs in different situations my suggestion therefore is to have the very simple option to change the position in the settings or per profile (and not generally chance it).
Would you agree on that?
Cheers Andreas

This is what it looks now with two rows of data fields at the bottom of the screen. I personally use north-is-up orientation exclusively so I would prefer to see the arrow right in the middle of the visible map (but can’t switch to the layout with the data up top because then the navigation cues will just cover half the map).

Thanks Julia. Well I don't know If the HH Team is reading these posts...the main post is marked as "answered" ...which it is definitly not :-) Let's see if they answer in the next days...perhaps we should open a new Post.
@Anna: seems you also have a problem with connection your K2 to USB while riding :-) :-) Perhaps an USB-angle-plug will help you out :-)

Important to be precise with what you ask for - see example below. I have a data field at the bottom, so the arrow is in the perfect position on the visible part of my map - if it just got moved to the bottom of the map par se I wouldn't be able to see it I suspect.
By the way - when I turn my K2 on, until the GPS locks on, it always shows the location as in a park in Didsbury, Manchester, UK. Does everyone get this? I don't live in Didsbury, or anywhere near it!

Screen centering helps me to orient, which I find useful. I do my own route finding.
Also button overlap and bottom sourced "popup" things like Lap and Radar confound the use of the touch screen areas, making use when in motion difficult. If I have to stop to use the Map, I would rather use my phone, as it is all around better.
