Device/display on, but not showing anything.

My unit suffered a minor drop on the ground from bike height, while the device was on. Now, the device and display is still on, but not showing anything, just a blank/black screen. The device also gets unusually hot near the bottom of the display.

I have tried everything I can imagine, e.g. letting it run out of battery, attempting a hard reset etc., but nothing gets me out of this state.

Letting the device die and charging it just gets me back into this state. A hard reset doesn't show a recovery screen or anything else. The display just turns off briefly, then turns back on.

Any ideas?
