Navigate to home shows eternal ‘preparing route’
First time Karoo 2 user. Happy overall, coming from an Edge 530. Surprised by the beautiful screen and good battery life (12hrs estimated, with 4 sensors connected, navigating all the way).
I’ve added my home address and tried to navigate to ‘home’ from the ‘ride’ menu. However, the navigation bit at the bottom kept saying ‘preparing route’, with no navigation details or correct arrow pointing the way. In the end I just created a new route in Komoot, and synced the Karoo using my Mobile Hotspot on my my phone.
So I have a workaround, but what did I do wrong? Should I have ended the route I was following, or did I have to be connected to the internet to create this route?

This is a recurring intermittent problem. I had a friend who had this on a Komoot ride he had already done once ok. It just would not calculate the ride. Once it gets into this loop (e.g. your 5 mins), you’re screwed, that’s it, for some reason it won’t get over it.
if it happens again you should create a Service Request rather than a Forum Post.

HH cannot solve any HW issues as it would mean a recall and that they obviously will not do. However I think this is an occasional SW issue as it only occurs intermittently, that they should look at and try to solve. As we have both stated, this is not a one-off occurrence. If you search for “Preparing”, you will find an issue with extremely long rides causing this problem. That they state to have fixed. Yours was a short ride, so they need to know that there is an occasional problem there as well.
If the problem occurs again, and you could actually “Save” the ride, it would help them diagnose the problem and possibly fix it.As a general point, there are far too many Posts that are actually valid K2 issues or K2 development requests, and whilst HH do monitor the forum, they do not need to do anything, it’s a user forum, not a Support Site. I have found that if I create a Service Request, they always come back very quickly, either with a solution or a “sent to development for review” statement.
