Other Android devices are able to get heart rate data directly from the Apple Watch. Why not Karoo 2?

I have a Garmin Fenix watch and that “Broadcasts” HR and is thus just another sensor for the K2 (note Garmin a specific competitor to HH and it works perfectly).
So does the problem not lie with Apple’s method of broadcasting HR? Why should HH have any special relationship with Apple, for which they would, no doubt, have to pay? Apple should change their HR method to become a standard sensor, not HH having to code something specifically for Apple, who are well known for proprietary solutions.
