I found it on the website ... but only because you told me it was there. Nowhere does it state that 'this is the new Karoo' lol. They are also showing a review rating of 4.6/5. Very strange for a brand new machine that nobody has yet. I assume that rating is from the Karoo2 reviews. I know people will accuse me of being negative but it has always been the way with Hammerhead ... their terrible attention to detail is indicative of a sloppy attitude as a company!

But to address the original question ... there is no information on a trade-in offer. Maybe that will appear shortly so we will wait and see on that one!

Hopefully that will change - specially around the BF time of year. By adding a $150.00 CAD to the price tag, there is no way I'd be dropping $700.00 for the minor changes. I've skimmed the DCR review that Stephen posted (thank you!) and despite doubling the processor speeds - it appears to have virtually no improvement in speed, thats a big miss and hopefully would be addressed in future updates.

They shouldn't really be carrying over user reviews from the K2, that is a false sense of feedback for new customers.

I agree - Wahoo also delivers on many of these features all for $150.00 less.

Since sram bought hammerhead many reason why I switch to the Karoo disappeared in months. If there’s no trade-up program I’ll wait to my karoo 2 die to change to garmin or even wahoo. I’ve trusted this brand for the potencial that they promise and their philosophy to the customer, and now it’s just like the other brands. Disappointed.

So much whining and complaining. Trade up is not an entitlement. Public threats to switch to Garmin sound childish. I did switch to Garmin because of the elevation issue but now I am coming back to the Karoo. It is a more enjoyable user experience and the map and nav on Garmin s*ck. The Garmin climb feature is consistently several hundred meters behind on displaying the grade I am riding. It will show I am on a flat green section when I am climbing a wall and vice versa. Keep your expectations based in reality. If you previously left Garmin, the same problems exist. The battery on the Garmin is great but the use case for me needing 30+ hours does not exist. I only need a few more hours than the K2 provided. After I test the new Karoo and assuming the issues are fixed, I will sell my Garmin 1040.

I also don't get people to "demand" trade ins. Why? You bought Karoo 2 (or which ever), its your job to sell it if you want. And then buy something new/different. LOL.

Well, you can call the wish for a trade-up entitlement or you can call it appreciation for customers. Especially if those customers took the risk to buy from a small, unknown, overseas start-up.

Or you can simply call it good marketing. There is no need to buy the K3 if you have the K2. What should make a customer switch from K2 to K3 without any incentive?
An incentive like we got for the K2
    https://support.hammerhead.io/hc/en-us/articles/360053245973-Karoo-1-Trade-up-Program

So Hammerhead is losing those who would like to have the new version but don't need it and at the same time they give those customers that supported the start-up the feeling: "We don't need you any more"

It's disappointing, like being left out in the rain.

It is not clear to me if it is a new product or they have corrected 2 bugs in the Karoo 2 and I have to pay €500?
I understand that the karoo 2 has become obsolete and does not allow you (hardware limitations) to use the Bluetooth companion APP to load routes and synchronize, something so basic that all GPS on the market have done for 15 years...

If at least the new one had fewer bezels, more screen, and a really much longer lasting battery, I would be angry. But seeing how difficult it is to differentiate the changes, I'm not too worried about not having "the latest"

3 years for this... very disappointing for a fan of the brand

It's incredible how people have become accustomed to being robbed, cheated on, and lied to.
Hammerhead has based a large part of its commercial strategy on closeness and dealing with the customer, who was asked to bet on this Stars-up with a “half-baked” product that was running out months or years after those of us who bought it. , we trust that paying a product with these characteristics even more expensive than the competition had some sense linked to that strategy. The disappointment is that when the company grows and becomes economically and financially robust, it forgets what convinced many of us to bet on this brand. After seeing the review I clearly don't need the K3; neither a garmin nor a wahoo. I will simply wait for my K2 to break and when I have to change it, I will not trust this brand, I will give the opportunity to Wahoo, which I have never had, or to Garmin, which has never failed me.

This is comedy. The unit was just released yesterday. The same people that are angry because a trade in is not available are the same ones saying the new unit is not enough to upgrade. Keep using what you have until a trade in program is offered. It will come. Why shouldn’t SRAM try to maximize revenue with those willing to be early adopters? They are a business. The threats to go to Garmin or Wahoo are laughable. News flash: no one here cares. Go out and ride your bike to blow off some steam.

This unit will do well. There may not be any standout must have single feature to upgrade but there are small things that add up and the new hardware will support new possibilities. I can already hear the complaints from K2 owners that their electronic device does not have infinite life and will not get all new features in the future.

Okay. A 10 for the commercial strategy. A 0 for company policy and innovation and prices. I can't think anything else... that they treat us like fools. :)

While I can only speak for myself, Frank, I simply asked if this would be available. Ali has only said 'not now'—which certainly doesn't mean they won't.

Personally, I have gone through 4, yes.. 4x K2 warranty replacements, so I'm on my 5th unit - it's been great. With a significant cost increase from the K2 to the K3, I think it's a valid question to ask as they've already offered this in the past for users going from K1 to K2. It's not a demand; it's a question. The K3 has minimal upgrades, but some are notable, so users must decide if it's worth the price. It would make sense that they won't offer a trade-in for quite some time.

This forum is loud with complaints. Ultimately, I believe the K2 is a great unit despite the issues. You're going to get them with Garmin, Wahoo, Bryton, whatever... none of them are perfect. That said, being on the pre-order list for the K2 and now using it for several years, there are multiple features they have yet to deliver reliably.

@Brandon My comments were not directed at you. I think your original question was valid. I was an early adopter of the K2 and went through 2 units before moving on until the issues I had were addressed. They appear to be addressed so I bought the new Karoo. There is still more I would like to see but the basics that I want are present. For me, the unit is nicer and more enjoyable to use than anything else out there. I also have SRAM AXS on three of my bikes and I am looking forward to the tighter integration.

@Lee I have a Garmin 1040. It’s a good unit but the maps and navigation are not good or easy to follow, the menu system is a bit of a mess and the climber consistently gives grade readings to that are noticeably off. The battery life and metrics are great but overkill for most use cases.
