    It's ok if you plan the route on another site (I use RWGPS) and then import that into the Dashboard, except for the turn notification icons on roundabouts, which are wrong - but you can just ignore those and look at what the map on the Karoo is showing you.

    Thanks Steve.  I've never used RWGPS - I'll have to sign up to give it a go.

    Thinking over one of my personal scenarios, (cycle touring) where my routes would be determined in the morning at the campsite depending on where I end up the night before - If the inbuilt Karoo UK routing is still a bit sketchy, could I create a RWGPS route on my phone and import that into the dashboard for the Karoo (assuming wifi is available wherever I am).

    You could turn on the wifi hotspot on your phone and then share your phone's data connection with Karoo. That should work.

    Though I don't know how easy it is to actually plan a route on RWGPS via your phone. I don't think their app will let you plan new routes, and I can see it being tricky to do it on their site via your phone's web browser. Perhaps someone else here has tried?
