Last weekend I drove 420 km with the Karoo. Most of the time the "Waiting for GPS" could be read on the display. On the second day there were surprisingly for the last 5 km turning instructions. For the third day I loaded a 270 km long track onto the Karoo and loaded the maps for it. On the first 160 km the Karoo worked, after that there was "Waiting for GPS" again for another 100 km, then lose the gps signal on the last 10 km. When I was home, I found Location was off.
The loaded map for the tour was not available. There was also only 640 MB of memory used, instead of 740 MB as before the tour.
After a new factory reset I can now upload 547 MB of map data to the Karoo (after 640 and 730 MB before). This is by far not enough for my planned tour and far away from the 8 GB advertised by Karoo. It took a whole day to load the 547 MB, which is far too long to do on the road.
I urgently need to be able to use offline maps to a much greater extent.
A long distance drive to areas you don't know is the argument to use a gps device. It does not help to point out that you can load the data on the way. I was e.g. for 2 days at a place without WLAN and telephone network.
As I had to deviate from the route to buy something to drink, it was very bad not to have a map on the device.
Since the tracks created on the dashboard sometimes don't take the desired route (on asphalt roads), I do the tracks e.g. with http://brouter.de/brouter-web/ .
This works very well here in Germany. However, the dashboard changes the tracks when I upload them. That's a no go. How can I load tracks into the Karoo as they were created without changing them by the dashboard?
