Good to know you're working on it.

However may I suggest that it does not mean that in order to safe battery, display updates are done in even lower frequencies as now. For example when displaying the current high (the one in the elevation graph) it's done every second (good). The current grade % every 7 second (very bad, why not do it every second also?? Please!) and the ascent and descent values are updated every 30 seconds I believe (very bad!).

I would really prefer that everything is at once per second as in the edge 1000 for example (at least hight and grade are)

The ATG have been given the fix to test. I'm not in the ATG, I just know from someone who is.

i can only assume the ATG is the same group that allowed this glaring oversight to get out into the wild in the first place....

given the severity of this problem, i would think that we are all now part of the ATG; and delaying the fix release for testing by the ATG seems ridiculous to me.  our karoos are mostly useless for a lot of us now; i would think that HH would want to get this fix out there as soon as possible.  2 days with the ATG seems like enough time to me....  if they have not found a problem with it, get it out to the masses NOW.  please....

Since you have known about this for some time now, it would have been nice to get an email alerting me to the problem before I went out today and lost the last third of my 90 mile ride. How is keeping this a secret winning back my trust? Also, it seems reasonable as others have mentioned that you should provide a way to roll back releases when they break core functionality.

    hey richard
ill be the first one to throw these guys under the bus.... BUT....

on 11/29, they did send out an email. perhaps it could have been clearer but they did acknowledge the problem... as well as give out a release date for the fix... which also seems strange to me.

in any event, here is the contents of that email:

    Dear Karoo users,

We've got some big updates on the horizon for you. With that in mind, we won't be sending a software release out next week. We ask you to please bear with us as our team takes a little extra time to focus on making some really impactful changes, and to address the battery life issues affecting Karoos since the most recent update. Your new Karoo software release will be available in three weeks, on December 20.

In the meantime, thank you for your patience and support as we address this issue.

Thanks for the info larryR. I would agree that it could have been clearer - much clearer. In my opinion, "Battery life issues" buried in the middle of a paragraph is hardly sufficient warning, particularly when the subject line of the email ("Your Karoo's next update") provides no indication that the email contains information about a significant loss of functionality in the current release. (Sorry about the rant, larryR, my frustration is not directed at you.)

Fix installed. I did a ride this morning, 64km with Ant+ HR and speed/cadence. 96% battery at the beginning, 75% at finish, 3:49 total time. Not quite as good as it was, but a lot better than before. Kudos HH.
