Help I have the exact same problem with same build. I believe the error messages stack on top of each other about every second. So if you dont respond for say 4 seconds you have to hit the OK 4 times to get rid of the error. But of course it will come right back in another second. Totally useless for todays ride. Please fix this ASAP

Hey Tom and Erwin - Could you please share the serial number of your Karoo with us at support@hammerhead.io?

Although, it is a known issue but I would like to take a look into the logs and get this to be less frequent on your rides.

Hi Ali, i did sent my serial number. Thanks for looking at this problem.
I hope this would help to find the cause.

Erwin/Thomas - As much of a pain as it is, in my experience the only thing that will fix this problem (slow screen refresh, app errors - navigation, routes, ride, activities "has stopped", TbT failures, etc.) is a factory data reset. I know there are other workarounds posted, but none of them have ever worked for me.

Do not add any offline map sections in the startup screens after the reset. Once its done, leave the unit plugged into a power source and connected to a good, stable internet connection for a while (say about an hour). Check the Routes page - once they are all downloaded you can go to offline map sections and redefine/download them one at a time.

If all your routes are set to not available offline or if (as part of the workarounds posted elsewhere) you've set your offline availability off prior to the reset, you can go straight to offline maps. Once done, go back to Routes. If you downloaded map areas that include your routes they should become available offline very quickly (and may not even show queueing or downloading before becoming available), otherwise you should get a 'downloading' message. Do not attempt to download more than one map section at a time. Alternately, you can skip offline map sections altogether if you don't need them and just download each route by setting it to available offline - one at a time and waiting for each to complete before going to the next.

This has always worked for me, at least until the next big update. Generally speaking, I've needed to reset after any major update that includes changes to navigation/maps or sensors and after many (>100) activities (though that's inconsistent and may be due to other factors). The key symptoms to look for are: slower and slower screen refreshes/app openings (e.g., activities takes more than 5 seconds to load with the time increasing with each reboot), random errors in one or more apps, apps freezing or not recording data, problems with downloading/installing new updates, GPS dropouts and rapid battery drain for no apparent reason.

Resets don't solve the underlying problem(s), but they will almost always get the unit back up and running. Hope this helps.

For now it seems to be fixed with workaround posted here:

    https://support.hammerhead.io/hc/en-us/community/posts/360028995373/comments/360004475233

Before i did remove my offline map.

Please try the complete steps from below

    1. Clear the Navigation data, Routes and Ride app data - activate developer mode, you can go into "Apps",  tap on "Show System" on the three dots on the top right, and clear the cache for the "Routes" app (in Storage), "Ride app" and "HX Navigation data".

    2. Log out of the Hammerhead account reboot the Karoo.

    3. Log in back to the Hammerhead account. It might still say Breadcrumb navigation but the TBT should be updated.

    4. Else try editing or adding some more waypoints on the Dashboard and once it syncs on Karoo it would trigger the download again.

Now i also got the TBT back and no message "HX Navigation Service has stopped"

Erwin, i've lost my TBT ability aince last update but as a tech novice Ive no idea how to do the above fix. How do you get to 'Apps'. Used to be on home screen but that changed, cant find that Icon anywhere.
Also in Step 1 do you mean you have to delete all saved routes, activities etc first?
    Thanks
    Im stuck!!

    Hi Eddie,

No, you dont need to delete all saved routes. Just goto Settings > offline map section > swipe to left the current map (if you have one).

To go to the Settings menu you need to go to the home screen. Then you see beneed the screen 'Activities', 'Routes' and 'Pages'. Swipe this to the left.
Then you see the Settings menu.

If you dont have the 'Apps' menu, it could be that you need to activate the Developer mode. (i'am not sure if Apps is always there) This is explained here: https://support.hammerhead.io/hc/en-us/articles/360005126213-How-to-Enable-Developer-Mode-on-the-Karoo

Thanks Erwin, I was able to do that but sadly TBT is still a thing of the past!

I will, unfortunately, jump on board with this. As soon as I updated to 1.33.582.3 I lost TBT. I am in the process of attempting the work-around described above and will let you know if I have any luck.

I had this same experience after needing to delete all maps, activities, and other routes to load 3 days of riding for a 1000k brevet this past weekend. The device was useless for navigation all weekend despite the routes having loaded (available offline) prior to leaving home for the event. This error message only appeared when at the start of the ride, not prior to that at home or in the hotel with wifi available, so there was no way to attempt a fix - not that I'm aware of one.

The unit worked to track the ride with speed, cadence, and heart rate sensors active and not dropping out, but having to resort to a cue sheet without any base map on the screen wasn't my intention for the weekend.

This is just ridiculous. I was able to get TBT working last week again...and then I wrote up a new route in the Hammerhead Dashboard and....back to Breadcrumbs again. Worse even...since the unit kept flashing me "Continue Ride!" every 60 seconds or so along the entire route. Ridiculous that Hammerhead is touting this device for its navigation abilities when the navigation is the least reliable feature of the entire platform.

Even if the various fixes worked reliably, asking people to reset their devices practically weekly is not a viable option.
