Hi Guys - This is new to us so your help would be greatly appreciated. Could you point me to the regions that are missing from France and Germany?

I will pass on to the team here to make the required changes.

Thanks Matthew - Sorry if I was not clear enough. I meant, the names of all the region (along with the country) that you find missing under the offline maps section.

I have found only one region missing. The region is called Saarland. It is a state in the country Germany.

No doubt there are other regions missing, but I've not spotted them. Perhaps other users can contribute to this thread if they find other regions missing?

I just downloaded and checked the map of Germany. The regions of Saarland and City-State of Hamburg are not listed in "offline map section" for Germany.

    Saarland region: https://www.google.com/maps/place/Saarland/@49.4024066,6.7829908,10.17z/data=!4m5!3m4!1s0x4795a4efc2a81f31:0x122d4d510dc7970!8m2!3d49.3964234!4d7.0229607

    Hamburg region: https://www.google.com/maps/place/Hamburg/@53.5589327,9.890195,11.17z/data=!4m5!3m4!1s0x47b161837e1813b9:0x1263df27bd878f0!8m2!3d53.5363318!4d9.9945216

@Pae - We have made a note on these regions and are actively working on it right now.

How does a whole state in a large, populous country go "missing" in map software? The mind boggles...

@Ali When this will be ready? I just got my Hammerhead and am a bit disappointed... Regards

@Koerbelin - Your disappointment is completely justified, as this is still a work in progress but be assured that its a priority right now. The mapping and navigation improvement are of as much importance as other data related issues. We have provided the list to the vendors, so they can include these regions along with the improvement in map styles.

I got a mail from Hammerhead on May 21st:

"We request you to be patient for 2 more days. The missing maps will be updated when the next software update is released on Thursday."

The next update is now released. Hamburg and Saarland are still missing.

    @Dieter

(This comment is based on assumptions, therefore might not be worth much.)

If Hammerhead have done this right, the "manifest" of map section availability/version shouldn't be bound to the release version of the device software. That is, the device software should be calling an API endpoint to get the list of available maps... meaning: there's a chance the missing map sections follow soon, and before the next release of the device software. There's hope :)

I can't believe that Hamburg is still missing. Since that update I can' t use offline maps anymore. When will you finally implement the missing regions?

Even with the new update, the maps for Hamburg and Saarland are still missing.

There are only words from Hammerhead about how important something is, but nothing happens.

Hammerhead has been unable to deliver on its promises for over a year.

There seems to be a different time calculation in the USA than here in Europe.

When are the 2 days, which Hammerhead wrote to me in an e-mail (May 21.) according to Hammerhead time calculation, over?

Specifies a date (no Hammerhead date) when the offline maps are available.

This really is appalling. What is Hammerhead doing about this issue?  Can we have a clear answer on what is being done please?

Hi All - We want this to be out too and I know that we have updated everyone earlier that it will be resolved, but unfortunately it has not been. We are putting a lot of development effort on a new tile dataset for the entire world and this update process. This is to ensure that the progress we make is helpful for all of us in the longer run.

Three months now maps are missing and it does not interest them. They promise that they will fix it with priority, but nothing happens.

They tell us, that they are working on it, but are apparently unable to solve the problem.

Hammerhead notes that the Karoo is completely unusable for people living in these regions. The only area that Karoo could be used for is the close-up area, which is well known and don't need any further information (supermarket, bike shop, restaurant...).

Concrete questions (specify a date) are answered with idle talk.

Ali, I paid a lot of money for an unusable device (more than 1 year) with 1.5 hours or shorter (shutdown at 97%) battery life.

And again: I was told by Hammerhead at the 21. on May:

"We request you to be patient for 2 more days. The missing maps will be updated when the next software update is released on Thursday."

That was more than 7 weeks ago in the time measurement usual in Europe. When will it be solved (concrete European date, no Hammerhead date)?

What are statements from Hammerhead worth? They are only intended to keep customers quiet.

More than one Year now with an useless device. It's best, you give me my money back.

Hammerhead and the Karoo are a nightmare.

Even with the new update the offline maps of Hamburg and Saarland are still missing.
What is the difficulty in these two regions that Hammerhead is not able to provide?

Hi Dieter - We are looking for a change where it would be easier to develop features on top of the fixes. Else it would be a double effort and the missing features could be delayed. I know there has been miscommunication related to this in the past - but we are just trying to avoid complexity and ensure it reflects the wants and needs of Karoo users.

Ali, are you talking about updating the maps? Because it's more than a little worrying that updating the maps impacts on other fixes that HH is working on. How are we meant to have faith in the maps being kept up to date in the future?

Not updating the maps precisely, because that would show as an option on the offline maps sections, so you would know when an update is available. That, along with feature such as offline route creation, all these are being looked at in addition to fixing the missing sections. Basically developing a base to add features on top of it in future.

Hi All - I know this might be late but the next general release should have these missing maps available. We have another ATG release scheduled this Thursday, and if everything looks okay - next Thursday should see the general release.
