Hi Ray, an E-Bike integration remains in our product roadmap and is something that we plan to explore in 2022. We know there are many users like yourself who would want this integration sooner, and we hope we can pull it up on our backlog amidst other priorities.

Just adding that we sold two of our hammerhead devices because we needed a battery field from our Orbea rise.

FYI here is a user in the emtb forums that developed a better app for STEPS integration for Garmin devices. Maybe he'd be willing to do some free open source work for you all at Hammerhead?

Would really love to see this integration.  Just picked up a 2021 Rise and have a Karoo 2 - would be real nice to have that integration.

The Shimano EP8 is the most manufactured e-bike system by 10x orders of magnitude. Santa Cruz, Transition, Orbea, Norco, Devinci, BMC, Intense, Commencal, all use Shimano. Hopefully hammerhead has taken that into consideration.

Not sure why the "downvotes" on Mr. Davenport's post but it is really disappointing having such a great piece of tech that can't take any of the information in from one of the most popular drive systems out there.  I'm encouraged seeing that the feature is "planned" but would really love to see an estimated timeline.

I want to see this integration too!  I just bought the K2 and want to connect it to my ebike which has Shimano STEPS on the ec-7000 computer which came on the bike.  Ray Meel, I side loaded the E-Ride app onto K2, and can get speed & cadence showing up on that app.  My question are: 1) When you go out on a ride, do you start a ride in the native K2 app and then switch over to the E-Ride app if you want to see your cadence and power in real time?  2) Will K2 now record all that data in the ride when you save it?  Or is it only happening in the E-Ride app and therefore lost?

As Shimano pulled the license to pair with Di2, there's no chance you'll get any STEPS integration, especially while it's using ANT+ private

Oh, that's discouraging, Stephen.  I thought maybe the Di2 issue was separate from STEPS--just addressing the shifters.  But you think it means Shimano is shutting out Hammerhead completely.  I wonder if that's why all the replies from Hammerhead on this issue is, "We plan to do something...but we don't know when."  Everyone keeps saying, "What's taking so long, this should be easy to fix!" but it's probably not a tech problem--it's a legal problem, right?

I don’t know for certain that this is the case but I’d guess so as Shimano are using ANT+ private so a license is needed to use it and Shimano see SRAM as a competitor so I really can’t see anything changing until Shimano make it ANT+

Maybe the new SW Release is the solution (SOFTWARE RELEASE 1.360.1448)?
I did not update my headunit since the Di2 issue, because I dont want to loose the function  Buttons on STI‘s of my GRX Groupset.

No, ANT+ LEV for now doesn’t support by Shimano. And there is no hope them add this support for existing models via firmware upgrade.

There is a Ki2 software plugin for Karoo, it adds workaround for Di2 sensors and, for now, a STEPS integration. https://github.com/valterc/ki2/releases

I just installed the Ki2 App on my Karoo2 Headunit.

Pairing my GRX-Di2 and Shimano EP8 Unit worked fine.

Now its possible to change former Di2 Datafields to Ki2 Datafields.

But I don`t see any E-Bike related Datafileds in the Ki2 App which could be used to exchange the original KAROO E-Bike Datafields in my E-Bike Profile.

I think the Shimano STEPS E-Bike System is not integrated i the Ki2 App.

Hopfuly it is possible and will be done in the future.

Many thanks to "valterc" for his effort to develop and programm the Ki2 App!

    best regards!

@Christian, no data fields from the motor? I am looking for mode (Off, Eco, Trail, etc.) and % battery.

hi, just installed KI2 to my Karoo 2... Added my ebike Orbea Rise H20 and after a restart of bike and karoo I can see the battery percentage. Is the only field that works, but is better than nothing. I think having precise battery % on the display is a real plus. Thanks again and again and again to Valter Costa for his work. Just a note - even Bryton has this license from Shimano ;..(

Yes… real… and if it works like everything else then it's a real crap. Had a bryton s800: wrong data on avg speed, heart, power zones and live tracking that doesn’t work. I think Karoo is another level.

Yes, that's why I mention Bryton - even they have it.
I have also Aero 60 from Bryton - not bad, good maps, etc., but Karoo 2 is lot better/ different level and more usable.

Hi, I installed the ki2 plugin on my new karoo 2.
The only working data field among several available is the battery percentage.
Do you know if there will be any updates of this app to better implement the Shimano Steps motor ?
