Feature request/bug: Indoor training strava VIRTUAL Ride - indoor profiles
AnsweredHey, please allow so that a particular profile can be configured for virtual/indoor rides.
This settings needs to on a profile so that it is persistent and when people go zwift/ indoor cycling/ spinning the activity gets automatically properly uploaded to Strava and Suunto as indoor activity.
In Suunto one can fix / change the activity type - which is cumbersome but doable
BUT for Strava it needs to be uploaded straight from the Karoo in proper classification. One can NOT change it in the activity afterwards as seen here > https://support.strava.com/hc/en-us/articles/216919587-Virtual-Trainer-Activities-on-Strava
Hence it is both a nice feature request and a bug which prevents us from having our trainings properly logged ;)
Last but not least if there is no speed sensor present in an indoor profile the speed should also NOT be recorded into the fit files and activities as it remains just flat zero.... That and pressure changes for climb/decend.
I can also see these issues have been brought up almost half a year ago and still are not FIXED -> https://support.hammerhead.io/hc/en-us/community/posts/6007251707803-Indoor-cycling-specific-settings

Hey another month has passed and still the issue is THERE!!
You can follow the issue also on reddit

Hey Summit,
I am afraid you are wrong. I am using the dedicated indoor type of profile, yes GPS is disabled.Still:
1) Karoo records speed data, which are empty
2) Karoo uploads the ride to strava (and suunto) as normal cycling activity... Irrelevant if I choose a ride, workout or trainer type during the complete ride phaseHere is how Karoo uploads my ride: https://www.strava.com/activities/7983170324
and the very same ride uploaded by samsung which has the proper "VIRTUAL Ride" type of activity https://www.strava.com/activities/7987712118I can send you the fit/gpx files.
When uploading to Suunto it also chooses Cycling but here at least one can change it manually to Hall/Indoor Cycling type of activity. (though technically it is also an integration bug).
I am not using a smart trainer - just a simple spinning bike with my HRM and cadence sensors.

We can set a profile as 'indoors' but I don't see much benefit to it, other than no 'map screen' preloaded, and GPS is turned off.
Not sure when, but quite a while back I logged a ticket for having SLS for Zwift - this would be fantastic and would put the K2 very far ahead of the competition. As far as I know, no other head-unit can do this.Previously, we could side-load the Companion App onto the Karoo but mine seemed to have lost functionality quite some time ago.

There is a bug when uploading my activity with my Smart trainer. When I am riding, Karoo2 records right the speed and distance. But when I upload the activity to Suunto and Strava the speed and distance are totally wrong. It records speeds over 50 km/h and hundred of kilometres in 1 hour

Guys,
Could you please add this feature?
Mapping the K2 activity type to the Strava activity type?
It's not just the matter of the inconsistency and visual issue, but in Strava I have for instance different bikes for different activities, and depending on the milage of the bike I do some revisions.
So - this is important to me to hame more or less precise milage for each activity (bike) I use and I should manually change the type of the (almost)every ride to appropriate one.
Guys, please support 👍👍 -
Hi Mikolaj,
Whenever anyone plans to do an indoor ride, we have a dedicated indoor ride profile for them.
If needed one can create their own indoor profile. This is how it is done: Creating a new profile.
Once the indoor profile is selected it automatically disables the GPS. Which will help in not recording the speed and distance through the in-build sensors in Karoo 2.
Note: When you are connecting your smart trainer with Karoo 2. Make sure you connect the TrainerID and not the PowerID.
Once your work out is over and you upload the ride to Strava, it auto detects the ride as indoor since the GPS data is not recorded and the same gets saved to your activities
