Karoo 1 -> 2
I am a "preorder Karoo 1" User that until now did not want to downgrade to Karoo 2 and let the exchange program pass. The main reason for chosing the karoo was the big and more square screen and that I will lose when going towards Karoo 2. Also the mount is no longer garmin compatible and since I use an Edge 1030 frequently because of important functionality missing in karoo I will stay at garmin mounts.
Now Hammerhead has announced the end of Karoo 1 updates so I need to re-think all that. Of course there are advantages of the new model, such als more memory, lighter weight, the beeper and future Updates. But still no SD Card slot which is a bummer especially since the maps are so huge in size.
What did people experience when upgrading to Karoo 2 - was it worth the upgrade? Is the Garmin mount adapter usable as a permanent solution? Did you regret it? Was the battery life the same? And did you cope well with the smaller screen?

Actually I do like the more square screen much better. I hate these narrow portrait oriented screens, this was one of the big advantages of the karoo for me.
And wrt not using the 1030 fulltime: In winter and bad weather when I ride with gloves the 1030 with its touchscreen only user interface sucks. Then the karoo shines. But since it does not have this connect IQ datafield that is very important to me it is more like a second choice. I always hoped that they will introduce something like CIQ but hope for the karoo 1 seems to be futile now. So yes, maybe I should get rid of it.

I just stumbled over this one: https://support.hammerhead.io/hc/en-us/community/posts/5105740186267-Feature-Request-Custom-data-field-CGM-Data and it seems that there already is some kind of support for custom data fields.
So now using the karoo becomes a lot more attractive to me and maybe i can even dump the 1030. I only lose garmin connect then where all my runs, swims and commute cycle activities are stored.
So the question is: Should I keep using the karoo 1 oder trade it in for a 2. I like the karoo 1 hardware better, but with support ending it may not be the best idea. Hmm.
