Anybody successfully sideloaded what3words on a Karoo 2?

Just curious to know if anybody has successfully managed to sideload what3words on a Karoo 2?
I come from the world of iOS so the notion of "sideloading" apps is a new concept to me.

Hey Steve.
Like the Karoo, Karoo 2 also works on an Android-based platform. You can undoubtedly side-load third-party Apps from limited sources but we haven't made it official and do not recommend it yet. We are scoping out this project to enable Karoo and Karoo 2 for side-loading third party Apps.

No, on the other hand, that might just encourage peer-to-peer support , and you know what a mess that would become and before you know it they would expect apps and need remedial Android programming. Better just post on Facebook with its extensive in depth support group.

Great idea , Steve. There is a fierce competition and deep fracture in philosophy between folks who want solid functionality and those competing with "feature creep", with finite resources fighting between things like better power management and those wanting to add things like wind direction and coffee stops timed to your caffeine level . An approach would be to sandbox the need for an app store, fuel its support and use that energy to build interest and community. Just think where this would be if the iPhone had ANT+, and why that hasn't happened.

https://karoousers.org/ has a good bit of community support for side-loading on K1 and K2.
