Notes on navigation and rerouting on a route with a return leg: a case study

This weekend when riding an "out and back" route, we were turned back becasue a section of road had flooded.
Because it was an out and back ride, the moment we turned arround, the Karoo2 picked up the return leg and thought "oh you are navigating home" (in reality - this is the next nearest waypoint in this direction). While trying to navigate the short distance back to the outbound course, the Karoo attempted to redirect us back onto the homebound track.
Fortunatly the screen is very clear, which enabled us to navigate back onto the outbound, where it picked that up seamlessly.
Questions/ solutions
Is there a way to prevent the Karoo from jumping onto the return leg before the outward leg is >90 or 95% complete?
The outbound and return legs were created in the HH dashboard, so there might be some way of making a work round, revolving on the route midpoint (where the dasboard make the return leg by duplicating the ride in reverse). Maybe disabling the return route until you are within ~1km of the route midpoint, a prompt to ask "are you wanting to go home" if you turn back before the mid point

Hi Steve,
Update: You can now follow any of your routes in reverse, without the internet. When selecting your route from the routes list on your Karoo, choose “Follow in reverse.”

@Steve: Thank you for sharing your recent experience and we certainly need to investigate the issue. As per the design flow, Karoo 2 routes you to the nearest point on the planned route to the destination even if you turn back from the Route. I have created a support ticket requesting the GPX file of the Route and FIT file of the ride for us to investigate the issue. I request you follow-up on the ticket with these details.
