    I have answered a similar post here: https://support.hammerhead.io/hc/en-us/community/posts/1260801025149-Layout-of-field-data

    So this is on the planned list of improvement. It will help us a lot more if users can upvote an already existing post so we can get those prioritised.

    Many, many, releases ago - on the Karoo 1 - the values were centred and they used to jump around all over the place as they changed because the display font was not a fixed width. It was quite bad, extremely distracting, and very difficult to read and process whilst on the move, IMO.

    I suggested to Hammerhead that they should consider right justifying the numerical values. I don't know if it was my feedback that made them change it or what but it's disappointing to see this come up again after it's already been fixed once.

    There's a good reason for right justifying numerical values in user interfaces which is that, typically, the decimals, units, tens, and hundreds vertically align with each other (if implemented properly). Research studies have shown that centred dynamic values are inherently more difficult to read and process because of the way in which they move around inside the cell.

    There's a good reason why Wahoo, Garmin, Pioneer, and the majority of other cycle computers right justify most numerical values. I, for one, don't support this request.

    If Hammerhead want to invest engineering resource into fixing this perceived problem, I would suggest you make right aligned the default option otherwise the vast majority of your users - who have become accustomed to this layout - will complain that they don't like the values centred or left aligned.

    @Steve - yet everyone else have solved this problem...

    Simple, you give people the option in the menu’s. I never saw a problem with jumping units whilst centred . I’d personally go back to that older UI in a heartbeat for this and a few other reasons.

    @Steve:

    I know what you mean and yes, sometimes a centered value that changes a lot can be very disturbing. But there are fields where I would appreciate a centered layout, e.g. time or temperature.

    So yes I agree with you: Right alignment should be the default but if the user could influence it that would be fantastic! Maybe by tapping on the field one could cycle through the different alignments (right, centered, left) while editing the profile layout?

    I think a better option might be right justified but with bigger margins. It seems that on a layout with two columns the actual width of the data is considerably less than the width of the field. An approach that might satisfy everyone could be to set the margins so that the widest possible number is centered, then right justify.

    I'd also suggest perhaps that a little more top margin might be good too - in the 7 field screen for example the data seems a bit close to the label.

    Peer Q

    Hi team,

    Just done my first few rides with my Karoo2 and really love the unit, the TBT navigation is perfect! My one request would be that on top of the justification of text, can we have the option to switch between white and yellow font colour? The look and feel of the advertising uses these colours and I think this would translate well onto the data fields too. Black and white feels just a bit plain. Could these kind of changes (justification, size, colour) be set within the dashboard and synced to the device? Just a thought!

    Thanks for an amazing product... I can’t wait for lockdown to end so I can test it out a bit more!

    Peer.
