AnsweredHi have ant+ Garmin speed and cadence sensors. My Karoo is not able to detect them. Could you support to me?

Hi Ali, thanks for your answer. I already try follow:
1. The battery of my sensors are oks.
2. Those sensors do not have sync with other GPS device (I have a Garmin Fenix 5 plus, and I am able to sync them without problem).
3. I have NOT this issue with Bluetooth devices (I have one Garmin HRM and I am able to sync with my Karoo.
4. I already try the Hard-Reset, and does not works
I really appreciate your support
Regards
Octavio

Hey guys,
I'm chiming in after being bitten by the same issue in Karoo 1. I'm on latest build as of today: 1.200.1016.3. Hopefully it is helpful to future readers and the dev team.
I've got a combination of Bluetooth (HRM) and ANT+ sensors (speed, cadence). I could add the HRM swiftly, but the device wasn't able to find the ANT+ sensors (changed batteries just in case as well). I was able to get it to recognize the sensors by following these steps:- Disabling the Bluetooth sensors in the Sensors screen.
- Waiting less than a minute.
- The ANT+ sensors start showing up.
- Added them successfully.
- Reenabled Bluetooth to get them all working again.
- I'm ready to go.
On a side note, I understand the OS is going through a lot of change and some problems are expected as usual. Moreover, now that there's a second-generation device to support. I'm sure the product and engineering challenges have grown exponentially. I happily chose Karoo Hammerhead a couple of years ago. To be honest: it is the most robust and reliable cycling computer I've tried over the last 10 years.
However, the last few updates have introduced some incidents. Losing one day's ride day data in the middle of a 5-day bikepacking trip. Or the one that brought me to this thread, which surfaced after hard resetting the device.I remember when using my Garmin 810/820 that I'd try to defer and avoid updates at all costs, just to keep the thing from crashing on rides. Karoo 1 is not anywhere close to that situation. I must admit that with these last couple of incidents I asked myself whether this is where Hammerhead is heading.
Reliability is what made me switch to Karoo. I know I can go a 5-day ride in the middle of nowhere and it will perform as expected.
Keep it up. I love it.
Cheers, Vicente.

Hi!
I had a similar problem after doing a factory reset. None of my sensors were found by Karoo 1. It worked a bit different for me than for Vicente.
I have disabled ANT+, and my sensors showed up on BT (they are BT capable as well). I paired them on BT, and then they started to show up on ANT+. I did the pairing for this as well and then unpaired the BT connections. They stayed connected on ANT+ after that.

Another problem to a long list of problems with this device. Last 3 rides unable to connect to power and cadence sensors, at one moment during my last right i stopped recording the ride, tried again to connect and all kinds of sensors popped up and was able to connect. Just this morning trying to connect to heart rate sensor no go. Watch and phone connect to heart rate monitor but not the karoo 2 over BT. So I toggle ant+ and BT on and off trying to get this thing to work. I finally get some ant+ sensors to show but not my actual power and cadence device. Finally the heart rate monitor shows up randomly. Never did get the sensor to connect to my power and cadence which is all in one. Never have I had so many problems with a device. Never any real help online. Again I believe the Karoo 2 product has potential but they just can't seem to get it together. You'd think they would say "we are sorry we have had many issues with this device, we are working hard to iron out the bugs." That would be far more helpful than, the standard reply of, "did you turn off and on the product, this you do a factory reset, did you toggle the BT and ant+ sliders?" Honestly guys. Lets get this thing sorted.

Update from my ticket...
Hi Tom,
Thanks for your patience.
I have had multiple members in my team check this with their Garmin watches and we found all of them to be working flawlessly to transmit HR data to the Karoo. Please let us know if you have any further questions.
Best Regards,
Franklin, HammerheadThen they have wonder GARMIN watches ;-9 will push back, that does not help much, does it...

My ticket
"We had upgraded our ANT+ connection on our units for the better and reliable connection. We have seen lots of users who were trying to use their smart watches to broadcast HR to the Karoo, which worked intermittently but not 100%.
The full set of smartwatch compatibility will be tested and released in the future updates. I hope you understand."
(...)
"The Karoo does not have the capability to connect to all the smartwatches right now. Garmin Fenix series isn't known to connect, but a few from Forerunner series watches do connect on the Karoo. The full set of smartwatch compatibility will be released in the future versions of the software and it is not in immediate plans right now."
Apparently HH is aware of the issue, its root cause and the fact that its a large group of users would like to use this function. If this is really a hardware issue, I would expect a recall. However, I get the feeling its more like a software issue.
As ryan farr already mentioned: let's get this sorted! Perhaps HH can tell us what they are doing about this and the expected time frame?

Tried to connect a brand new Magene S3 cadence/speed sensor. Unfortunately this did not work over ANT+. The Bluetooth connection seems to be working with this sensor though.
This could be an indication that ANT+ in Karoo 1 in general is not working, and not just with specific Garmin branded products/watches.
I assume these issues are still relevant for the other users here as well.
Dear Ali, would you happen to have an update for us?
