Battery Charge / discharge Recorder
AnsweredHello,
It is obviously an important issue to get enough battery for any ride or at least be able to estimate autonomy and eventually bring an extra power supply to feed the K2.
I guess there are almost as many configurations of K2 with ant/bluetooth peripherals, phone, wifi hotspot and sideload apps running on background while riding, not to mention luminosity, outside temperature.... than K2s on the bikes
So my request would be to have a charge/discharge recorder so one can learn how to save battery or charge faster with its own configurations, peripherals, cable, chargers etc...
I would be ok with a sideloaded app if you find it not prioritary, useless ;-) , or simply because such app already exists!
I had a quick look at apkpure website but i couldn't find an app that satisfy my request. Maybe someone could suggest one?
My request is of really high motivation because I could sideload and successfully install spotify one hour ago, and i am now realising that when listening for music it drains the battery faster that my computer or an independent charger can feed it!
Before someone say "just don't use spotify on K2 !" please understand that my wish is more a general issue and that ultimately would be that with such "battery app" i could try different cables , chargers, and also know better what options (apps/bluetooth on/phone paired/ route warnings etc...) choose wisely when going out for long rides ....
alternatively i can still use spotify as a battery charge/discharge checker!
Regards,
Olivier

I like the thinking behind this idea. I recently loaded sensors for 2 bikes and a smart trainer. It's quiet a long list when Ant+ and Bluetooth are both included. I was wondering how much battery drain there is and whether I should disconnect or delete them on the Karoo 2 if not in use. It would be nice to have an article included on the Hammerhead site for best practices regarding battery efficiency.

K2 charges faster than it drains with spotify running when plugged on my computer or external charger (and a magnetic/safe usb wire).
This morning after sideloading some apps with adb i disconnected logically usb transfer ("adb kill-server") for a safer unplug from computer but it appeared K2 stopped charging until i physically unplug/replug K2

There are many android phone battery management apps, since this is sorta an issue there. Porting one into the Karoos would be a serious help.
There seems to be reluctance to put out a troubleshooting guide that isn't so fragmented as to be near impossible to use. Sort of an unalphabetized , unindexed phone book of help. Trouble shooting using Zendesk is quite frustrating.
Same would go for a FIT file guide. The HH help guys are pretty nice , but putting to ether a usable guide to help solve problems, optimize configuration and get a sense of how to present a question with proper framing and terminology would be phenomenal and go a long way towards helping the folks that share their goals of having the best tool out there.

I tried sideloading ampere to this end. But even with nova launcher I can't figure out how to see what it's generating while in a ride. Nova is not app switching with K2 like it did with K1.
I think K2 won't charge while in a ride like K1 did. This is a very serious problem for those of us that use dynamos. I've been testing various scenarios. K2 sucks power a lot more than K1 did. At least it appears to. Even with everything turned off and the screen light to 0 it still drops off 14% in an hour and a half of riding. K1 was more like 8%.
