Here is a sample product similar to Peter's suggestion: https://www.amazon.com/asin/dp/B07GJDL36L

Hi Peter, Thank you so much for sharing it here. This will be useful for many of our community members before we are able to ship the upgraded parts.

I had A LOT of wobbling with my Garmin based mount with the 'converter'. So what I did was, take the original mount included with the K2, unscrewed the actual connecting part, turned my Synchros Garmin compatible mount upside down, drilled 2 holes (3mm) and screwed the original part to the Synchros mount.

Now I have an outfront mount that bolts onto the stem bolts, and natively connects to my K2 using the original mount part !!

    Will post pictures later

I would definitely worry that the dog ears on the Garmin adapter supplied by HH would have WAY more pressure on them with that O-ring workaround. Given the history of Hammerhead supplied mounts breaking, make sure you've got that lanyard attached if you're using this pinned workaround.

@Florian - brilliant - I will be trying this as the quarter turn mounts are not reliable.

This is a great idea. Thanks.

Update: I ordered the sample o-rings suggested by Reginald Brown, they arrived today and are working well.

Could you please provide a correct STL-file so that we can print the garmin-mount ourselves?

Racewaredirect has some 3d printed mounts. I ordered one for my Canyon. Expensive and no idea what the quality (or quality support) is, but the quarter turn mount (even with the O-ring) mount isn't good enough for me.

If anybody is interested I will let you know how shipping, handling and quality are.

There is a wobble in my bauble

    And I feel most insecure.

And I wonder why there doesn't seem to be some kind of cure.

It's as if the problem sprung upon them , never seen before

And it causes some to snort aloud and roll upon the floor.

@Richard I would say - create a ticket with info like type mount + adapter.

You know I would create a ticket

If it helped me with my prose,

but the ones that I have done before

Just turned up like all those

Who had the problem  at its onset

    and instead  of a resolve,

    Merely had new iterations

    as the processes evolved.

The Garmin mount was meant for watches and not things with bigger heft.

So, to have things continue onward is the mess with which we're left.

If it had a great big bumper and a stouter mounting screw, and a good place for the tether, maybe that would really do.But to go back and look at videos of mounting tests done in the blog, Left me with a cautious feeling as to how to anchor if it's jogged.

    @Niels Dijkstra

Would you mind sharing your experience with the third party K2 mount adapter once you have it ?

    Thanks in advance

Hi Franklin, Can this O-ring be part of the Karoo2 pacjage instead of asking customers to order it via Amazon?

Agree with @Edgar - at least until HH rectifies the issue

I used those o-ring in my karoo with an sram mount, worked like charm.

Pack of 10 for 1 euro at a hardware store: I chose the 18,72mm x 2,62mm, a bit tight to mount but perfect.

For the 3d printer folks here is a dupe of the karoo mount head piece. The step file is there so you can add your own bar mount and have a complete mount instead of using an adapter. I'll add the complete mount for a vision bar as well. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4790179

@Florian I'm going to try to make a similar mount, converting the supplied adaptor to be hard mounted to my KEdge Top Cap in place of the stock Wahoo insert. Hoping it requires no more than drilling 3 holes (2 for the mount screws) and one central for the top cap bolt.

So I just received my unit. Tested the qtr turn adapter in my KEDGE top cap mount. Little wobbly. Just a little. In my cheap Chinese top cap mount from eBay it is solid as a rock. I might see if that insert fits into my KEDGE. No need to use an oring with that.

For what it's worth, it's not wobbly on my Barfly 4 Prime.  I guess different mounts have slightly different tolerances?

I’ve just been testing bits in the garage. Its wobbly on Wahoo mounts, perhaps this is what others are experiencing. But it’s totally solid on my Chinese Garmin mount and my KEdge Garmin mount.

I had hoped to quickly switch between the out front Karoo mount on my road bike and the adaptor to Garmin mount on my Mtb. But it’s just not practical - it’s a pain to remove the adaptor to swap bikes. And as solid as the out front Karoo mount is, it’s actually difficult to get the Karoo off the bike road bike. So I’m switching to the adaptor and a Kedge Garmin mount on both bikes.

This has a good firm attachment to the Karoo adapter. No oring required. It does seem very compact though - there's just enough clearance to twist the Karoo 2 on without rubbing.

    Hi Ali (HH),

Is the plan to ship out the improved 1/4 mounts to all K2 users or do we have to submit a ticket?

Also, when will these be available? It's been several months now.

    Thanks

    Chris

So, I got an email that a complete new Karoo mount is on the way. I only need the redeveloped quarter mount adapter though.

"The Quarter-turn adapter used with the standard Garmin mount might require the O-rings.
But the Karoo 2 mounting system is dedicated for the Karoo 2 units. I am certain that the Karoo 2 mount will fulfill your needs when it comes to using it with 31.8mm handlebars.
We did not have options to provide you separate adapter piece. hence, we are sending the complete mounting system.
Please let me know if there is anything else I can help you with!"

I want to keep using my Garmin mount since I have other devices that I mount on it (for indoor training for example). A new mount won't help me.

Is it possible that your existing Garmin mounts are just worn down a little by your previous GPS? I have two K-Edge mounts with new Garmin inserts screwed in and my Karoo is rock solid and wobble free on both. It's also solid on a cheap, well worn, Chinese one I have too.

No, that's not the case. I bought a new adapter with tape on it last month to fix to the back of my new smartphone cover and the fit is really good and tight, not wobbly at all like the Karoo adapter.

Fot the Karoo I use duct tape and the lanyard when I go riding outside.

They must have a manufacturing consistency problem with these. That they work fine for some of us but clearly not for others is odd.

I have several mounts (Specialized out front, Easton integrated out front and K-Edge 1/4 mounts), and while my Garmin fits perfectly in ALL of them, The K2 1/4 Mount doesn't: two are acceptable, while the Easton is super wobbly with the K2 (and even the HH sponsored o-ring solution doesn't help much).
