POI adding via address / importing from Cycle.travel

Hi, I want to suggest a feature for the tourers among us: making it easier to add POIs.

 

Often on a multi-day tour, you find yourself in need of a hotel/bike shop/restaurant/... that is not on your original plan. With my Garmin Explore, I'd find it either on the GPS or I'd look up an address on my phone and then enter it into the Garmin Explore.

On the Hammerhead, I'd have to browse to the dashboard, and create a new route to the place, which is quite finicky. Would be nice if I could rapidly update my route to add a POI, or indeed if there were address-based on-device navigation.

On a related note, I noticed you already support RideWithGPS POIs. Would you also consider making it possible to import from https://cycle.travel? IMHO it offers superior routing for touring aficionados, and it also supports POIs in its GPX files. I've contacted cycle.travel about a connection between them and the Hammerhead dashboard, but it would seem that you need to provide an API for doing so.

Any plans in that direction? I'd be happy to help if needed :)

  bluppfisk - Thank you once again for your suggestions. The address look up is not in our immpediate plans, but it does exist in our backlogs. I will surely go ahead add your request to include cycle.travel as a seperate integration request.
