Two features that make me want to go back to my Garmin Edge
CompletedReally enjoying my new Karoo 2 so far, but there are two missing features that are tempting me back to my old Garmin Edge 830:
I want to have the option to have the map display during the automatic TBT cues. I like spending most of my ride on the data screens, but when riding a new route the existing TBT pop-ups just aren't accurate enough on their own to navigate. This could be solved by giving us an option where automatic TBT cues include the map and take over the whole screen.
Climb Pro. Garmin has an excellent feature called Climb Pro, this is its own data screen which does a few very useful things:
It automatically identifies climbs that occur on your route (there's an option to change how big the climb needs to be to qualify as a 'climb'). When you're not on a climb, the data screen shows a list of upcoming climbs on your route.
During these 'climbs' it automatically switches to a special data screen with a bunch of useful fields: A big elevation graph that shows specifically the upcoming climb (either in its entirety or in chunks if its particularly long), and colour codes red/yellow/green sections depending on gradient. Space for few customisable data fields that include metrics specific to the climb, like remaining distance to top, remaining elevation to go, gradient, etc.

Garmin's own help docs show the Climb Pro feature really well: https://support.garmin.com/en-GB/?faq=KKRLD2Fo6MAlCXOzUZb1e9

To be honest I was assuming this is already supported when I ordered the Karoo because it says "Upcoming Elevation Graph - Available for all routes automatically". So Yes, much needed! For me, I do not want to waste so much space on the map screen with the elevation graph when I am not going uphill.

I also recently switched from Garmin to Karoo2 and really miss the 'automatically going to map display' when approaching a turn. This is really useful. I was surprised that I need to change manually during the ride. I had it setup to have a full map view, I had to change it to add data screens. Given the key differentiator of this device is navigation I hope they add it soon.
But please do not implement the auto rotate of screens. Just show map and go back to the data screen I was on. The auto rotation of Garmin is annoying when you have multiple datascreens. Didn't like that at all.
