Varia Radar wonky distance scale
CompletedSo, I always felt that the distance scale was really off with the Karoo (2). When I rode with the Varia and my Edge, it made sense. A car would pop on at the bottom of the screen, as it approached it would kind of evenly come up the side of the computer, as the car got close, the dot got close.
With the Karoo, it felt like they would pop on and instantly be 50% along the side of the computer, it would show the car on top of me when it was still way behind me and just sit in that spot, until it was actually right on top of me. I found it hard to gauge where cars were relative to me, but it generally worked.
Today, I decided to pull my Edge back out and confirm that I'm not crazy, and yeah, it's really bad in comparison. The Edge gives me a great idea of where the vehicle is. If the dot representing the car is about 10% from the bottom on the edge, it's over halfway up the Karoo. By the time the edge shows it somewhere around a third of the way up the display, the Karoo is at least 75, maybe 80% up to the top, and from maybe 50%-100% on the Edge, the Karoo sits at like 95%.
Can you guys tune this to give us a better idea of where the car is relative to us? Have you ridden with an Edge and the Karoo side by side to see the difference? Or am I just missing something here?

Posed this question on the Facebook group for the Karoo, and quite a few people indicated that they're having the same problem. They have also noted that this seems to be a recent regression as it didn't behave this way in the past. Might this be something the team is aware of, or can fix?

Hate to say it but this EXTRA critical bug is not fixed. It's downright dangerous to continue to rely on the distance scale of the Karoo computer. All the other fixes being worked on are highly appreciated but if you can't fix this dangerous flaw, your computer shouldn't claim to have the varia integration.
This really needs to jump to the head of the line. sorry to say I may be looking for a garmin 1040.

Hi Doug,
We apologize for the confusion.
We had posted an update a year back where we mentioned that we have made an improvement on Rear radar detection. We did not see any further improvements at this time on the Software level. However, we will continue to make efforts and look for enhancements with time.
If you are seeing a strangely odd behavior, please submit a ticket with all your findings here: https://support.hammerhead.io/hc/en-us/requests/new
Thank you!
