My thanks to the team for rolling out ANT+ control!

I currently have ANT+ lights that I use in flash mode for city rides but it is really cumbersome to either get my phone out of my bag or to stop, get off the bike and manually change the setting if I move from the city into somewhere darker. A new page on the profile or access to settings by swiping down from the top and then a new app would be amazing. As smart bike lights become more common, this would be a real bonus for the K2.

    Thanks

    Peer.

Thrilled with the new lights on/off being connected to ride start/ride stop.

For those times when you want to change them mid ride, I think it's a good use case.

Perhaps on the top pull-down, where wifi / battery save and such are located,  One icon for Headlight and second icon for Taillight. Pressing the button would cycle the available modes for the light.

So when time for lights on or off,  you could just swipe down and jab the icon once or twice.

    Hey all,

Thanks for sharing your experience and observation on the implementation of the smart lights. We will strive to excel in our product and see what most of our users want us to bring in on our unit.

@Gerban, I really appreciate you for sharing your feedback and suggestion on the features. Certainly, we will improve the functionality but, as of now, I can not commit on when!! I have made note of your points and would let you know that these are in our pirpeline. Until then, I am sure you would be enjoying your rides with the ANT+ light support.

Does this only support 2 lights?

Working fine with 3 lights for me. Varia RT510 radar/light, Ion 200 RT front light and Ion Flare RT rear light.

    Cheers.

@Abhishek Anand  nice update. A beginning.

How about a discussion of light control and the ANT+ protocol's features and issues, so we don't pester you with the proprietary stuff  Big G and Bumtraker pulls with controlling the lights?

This puppy will be the bike PAN yet.

Thanks for supporting Ant+ light features. Can't wait to see the feature set expanded.

Agree with everything Gerben suggested. My only build would be on this:

It would also be cool if you could set the mode to something else when you stop biking (when the karoo pauses the ride). If I could set it to mode x when I pause, and then continue to mode y when I bike again, that would be epic.

I'd like the option to choose to switch the lights off when I manually pause (e.g. for a coffee and cake) but not when it auto-pauses (because I don't want the lights to go off when I'm waiting at traffic lights - I still want cars behind me to see me).

Great to know, thanks Saad! I just bought Ion 200 & Flare RT, and considering adding a Varia in future.

Patrick, if it's of help - I had emailed See.Sense as I was considering purchasing the Icon, but they said as it stands only the rear light can be connected by ANT+ and not the front one. They say they're working on it - but I went for Bontrager instead for that reason.

ANT+ lighting networks work by connecting to one light. This light then conencts to the next and so forth and so on, as opposed to the master unit connecting to each light individually. The problem we have is that the second light is causing the entire network to fail, so we can only allow one rear light to be connected at one time. But we are working hard to resolve this. My apologies for the inconvenience.

Implemented enough to get a “supported features checkmark” — But for me, it’s unusable.

    • I need a high viz tail light setting while getting to the group ride (solo, high traffic roads)
    • I need a LOW (steady low) while in the group ride
    • I need it back on high viz to getting home

(Same behavior on the Garmin Varia, BTW)

New to K2 and ANT+ light support wasn't on my wishlist, so this is all a bonus, especially wakeup and start on starting a ride :)

Some feedback and status all with up-to-date firmware as date of this message...

    Varia RTL510:

    • Works as features would suggest, light status updated
    • Turns on automatically when starting a ride
    • Light mode controlled through K2 unit nicely
    • Turns off light at end of a ride but UNIT remains in standby (purple flashing light)

    Cycliq FLY12:

    • Adds as a sensor well
    • Turns on automatically when starting a ride
    • Light remains OFF at all times
    • No control through K2 and updating light mode on unit doesn't update on K2 screen

Yesterday I got a notification in my screen that battery of rear light was low. A very visible red bar: Perfect

The issue is: couldn't remove it
Not by swiping, tapping on screen anything

Something I did wrong or not possible?

After the notification I want to be able remove it

    Thnx

    Hey Emil,

You can swipe the low battery notification from bottom to top to dismiss it.

    Documented where?

I had this happen and was not something to work on while riding!

    Hello all!

It appears there was some question about the low battery notifications and dismissing them by swiping up. When a low battery alert (red bar) for a connected accessory appears at the top, you can swipe up to dismiss it. This would be the same action as dismissing alerts on most smartphones.

I have confirmed today that the swipe up to dismiss behavior is still performing as expected. Thanks!

It didn't work for me few days ago when the battery of my Powerpod went low. Couldn't swipe the alert.

It doesn't work for me either, I couldn't swipe the power meter low battery alert.

This is also the case with other low battery alerts.

Can also confirm it doesn't work for me. I got a low battery alert on Friday, after I'd read this post the day before, so tried exactly what you said above - the notification could not be dismissed.

Same with a flat battery on my powercranks, red warning could not be swiped, only went away when the battery completely died in the PM. The initial warning is ideal, only once tho please, either have it time out after a few seconds or have it dismissable.

    @Jami

Was your response an offer to send me your unit?

    Or a very incomplete answer.

it's nice to know YOUR unit is working.

    Hi All,

We would like to update you all that we have taken this issue further with our team. We are sure that we will improve this UI behavior in our software releases this quarter. This is currently a work in progress.

There really needs to be a dedicated 'Lights page' to allow for easier control / switching rather than digging into the Sensors page, scrolling to the light, selecting it, and changing the option there. The Lights page should also have a quick settings shortcut button in the top status bar.

Honestly, the lights control as it exists now is so basic as to be barely usable.

Jep agreed. It's been over 6 months now. Where are we with these features? I've looked at the API to create our own apps, but there's nothing in there to control lights. Otherwise I could create this in a few days.
