Garmin Rally Compatibility
Answered-
I just got my Karoo 2 and took it for first ride. It's great, but noticed my new Garmin Rally pedals don't work properly. I think it only reads one pedal because it won't show smoothness or reference of the right pedal anywhere. I know both pedals work because I had them previously paired to a Garmin 830.
I have not yet had a chance to setup a screen showing torque or some of the other power data sets yet that require two pedals.

I just had an email conversation with Ashish Kuttappa from Hammerhead support and after making sure that he knew I wasn't asking about Garmin Cycling Dynamics, but just getting data from both Garmin Rally pedals, he confirmed that the Karoo will now accept data from both pedals. The salient parts of my final conversation are posted below.
Me: I do not want Cycling Dynamics on the Karoo. I want to know if the Karoo gets information from BOTH Garmin Rally Dual-Sensing Pedals so that it can provide Pedal Power Balance, Pedal Smoothness, and Torque Effectiveness?
Ashish Kuttappa (Hammerhead): I am sorry if my previous email was confusing. Yes, you will get the Pedal Power Balance, Pedal Smoothness, and Torque Effectiveness from both the pedals.

Thanks for sharing this, Joe.
I'd be interested to see a matrix of data points that are available to the Karoo 2 across Garmin Rally and the Favero Assioma DUO-Shi pedal-based power meters so I can figure out if it's worth spending more on the Rally over the Favero Assiomas.
Akhil - does such a document exist, please?

Steve,
I would also be very interested in knowing that. I had an opportunity to buy the Garmin Rally RK200's at a slight discount, so I purchased two sets and am currently trying to sell them. My initial thought was that if I could make a little bit back on them I would likely turn around and get the Faveros; but now that Hammerhead has said that it gets information from both pedals, I may keep one pair.

I have been using mine for several rides, and the Karoo 2 is getting data from both pedals. They do not support cycling dynamics, and I didn't expect them to. They do show Power Balance, but do not show Pedaling Efficiency/Torque Effectiveness. Knowing that they show Power Balance, and must be getting data from both pedals, gives me hope that a future software update may enable more power displays; but I'm honestly very happy to have the Power Balance and everything that goes along with that.
I do have a second brand new set of the RK200s that I got at the same time I purchased the set I'm using. I found a place that gave me free shipping a small discount, which Garmin rarely does. If anyone is interested in purchase a never-use or registered pair of these pedals, let me know. I would be willing to let then go to another Hammerhead user for $1,000. :-)

I have recently gotten the RS200 and paired it off with the Karoo2. Can confirm only Power reading and Cadence works. All others cycling dynamics associated with power meter cannot be shown even after I extracted the FIT file out and loaded it into Garmin Connect. I am losing things like: Light/right balance; Power Phase; Platform Centre Offset.

Thanks everyone for confirming they're only getting power, cadence, and balance. I wasn't sure if my RS200 was properly paired, even though I get the power balance I thought since the Karoo2 offers data fields in the profile setup for torque effectiveness and pedal smoothness that these would show as well. So it looks like showing those data fields in your profile is useless.
