Fast navigation from phone
AnsweredI often find myself wanting to go to this or that address but the Karoo2 doesn't currently support on-device navigation to addresses. This means going through the relatively laborious route of opening the dashboard in the mobile phone browser, painstakingly entering the addresses, saving the route, waiting for the sync and then activating it. In that time I could've already been at my destination.
Since there already is a phone companion app (on Android), could it not be a sink/target for locations (e.g. shared from Google Maps) and send the location to the Karoo? It would massively speed up my navigation.

Hi bluppfisk,
Thanks for the suggestions.
We do hope to bring more functionality to the Bluetooth link in the future with data sharing etc. The main hurdle here is that the device is an Android device and, like most current Android smartphones, it does not natively support device-to-device Bluetooth data connection sharing. Wifi tethering has become the standard for that function due to higher data rates and better range. That said, it is a feature we want to bring to the Karoo 2 in the future!
You mention that you are creating the route in Dashboard from your phone then syncing the Karoo 2 to download it - this suggests that you are using wifi data tethering to sync. The Karoo 2 will search an address if you are connected to the internet - after connecting to your hotspot, go to routes on the K2 and hit the "+" to build a new route. Search the address, tap it when it shows up in search results, then hit the checkmark to route to it. After the route loads, you can turn your wifi hotspot back off. That should speed things up a bit!

Answer is simple, just create proper offline maps. The logic of poor offline maps and a sim instead of just better maps is lost on me. If space was an issue you could have had an sd card slot for expansion instead of a sim slot like most other Devices have. Then coverage would never be an issue and no data cost albeit small. I bet it uses more power as well. Being different is only good if it’s better and it’s not.

Yes, same opinion to me.
Even my garmin is able to find an adress offline.
My Edge is also able to work with maps downloaded form specialized websites in a current standardized format.
Since I have purchased the K2 recently I am thinking about giving it back within the garanteed 30 days.
Using a SIM Card with extra costs is stupid.
Carrying an extra device to get an internet connection for simply finding an address is not realy brilliant.
Maybe that I am not right, but in germany I do not know costless internet access.
It is disappointing...so please update your offline cards beeing able to find addresses.
