Happy new user
AnsweredHi there.
I just wanted to say hello to the people here in the community. And for starters a positive feedback to the HH developers. I recently bought a second hand Karoo1 and I'm very happy with it.
I came from using my mobile phone with Runtastic Pro App. Worked fine for me. Battery drain was about 25% per hour, so I used a power bank for longer rides. For after work rides (2h) it was fine. I've noticed that my phone in getting warm or ever hot in summer. But I used this setup for 4 years... everything OK. But in March 2021 Runtastic has stopped the OSM/OCM integration. Since I'm a MTBer this is really important for me. Most of the time I don't follow a route, I just rides somewhere and then look where the path goes on my screen. So that's why OSM/OCM is so important to me, and also a clear, bright screen with quick responce. I've tried the Garmin Edge 1030 (no plus) last year, and was really disappointed. The map was really slow.
Summary: for my main use (navigating in field and woods), the Karoo is nearly perfect. If the OCM was integrated properly, I would give a 100%. I just use an HRM, no other sensors. Upload to Strava works fine.

Hello Ralph,
Welcome to the Hammerhead community!
Glad to hear you're satisfied with your Karoo 1. They are still great cycle computers and continue to receive software updates just like the Karoo 2. I actually miss the bigger, anti-glare screen and chunkier buttons of my old K1 sometimes.
There has been a lot of talk from other users lately about wanting to upgrade the maps to use the proper OCM maps. I don't know what Hammerhead plan to do about this, but I think it would make the Karoo even better.
You may eventually run into the Strava upload issues problem but this is something Hammerhead are aware of and I hope we will see a fix for this very soon.
If you have any questions about your Karoo, you're in the right place!
