Why is the Dashboard lacking the ability to sync account data automatically?!
AnsweredFor the umpteenth time:
After making a few quick changes to the intended route on Komoot, I switch on the Karoo 2. While the device is starting up, I get changed. Returning to the Karoo 2, I select the route for the today's ride and am ready to go out …and then remember, just as I am closing the door behind me, that I forgot to press the button on the Dashboard to sync the changes from Komoot.
So lean the bike onto a wall, find my way back to the computer, log into the Dashboard and press the button. I then get the Karoo 2 to connect to the wireless network, hope that it would update and then proceed to search for the newly synchronised route on the device.
Meanwhile I am thinking: I really shouldn't have to remember any of these steps. The Hammerhead server providing the resources for the dashboard should simply fetch any changes automatically. Not just from Komoot, but from any of the other accounts the Dashboard is connected to.

The title of this post is a little confusing because the Dashboard does sync account data automatically.
I think I understand what you're saying, though, and the Karoo itself should sync with third party accounts directly, without having to go via the Dashboard.
It's a fair suggestion and I don't understand why this is not supported either. In practical terms, there is a danger that some of these third party applications may also impose API rate limits on Hammerhead - in the same way that Strava does - and every time a device syncs it's hitting/contributing to that rate limit. Not a user problem, obviously, since the user should never have to deal with the errors thrown when synchronising with third party accounts. It may still be a limitation, however, and one of the reasons why we have not seen this implemented on the Karoo to date.
