Karoo 2 factory reset on my pocket
AnsweredHi!
I've got my Karoo 2 a few months ago and so far it's been quite nice to use. One thing I noticed is that since there's no way to lock the device, in the path between my bike (which is locked outside my apartment) and my place it often will do stuff on my pocket: start a ride, go to the settings and so on.
But today it was the worst so far, I charged the device for a ride, put in on my pocket and when I was attaching it to the bike and turned on the screen, it was somehow in the factory reset screen and did a factory reset just then and there.
I can't stress how inconvenient that was, luckily I was riding with another friend that a had a GPS and could guide, but I was out of a map and had to do a quick hotspot to be able to at least store the ride. The cherry on top was that when I came back from the ride and finished it, it again started a ride between my bike and my home.
Factory resetting the device should require some kind of hard confirmation. Draw a symbol, type a code, type "yes I really do", whatever that makes factory resetting harder than just clicking around.
There should be definitely a way to lock the screen + buttons while not using it. The buttons are way too sensitive and even turning the device off is no good, since it turns back on.
Lastly: there should be a way to discard a ride, starting a new ride is way too easy and happens a lot, and then I have to go through the whole "save the ride" stuff only to have to delete it later.
Anyways, I enjoy Karoo, but this one let me really upset.

Hey Renato,
Sorry for that frustration. I know I have accidentally hit buttons and had to delete unintentional rides later. I've never been so unfortunate as to accidentally do a hard reset, though. I can see where it could happen in your pocket, but accidentally holding all 3 buttons for long enough is not common.
A way to lock the whole device (screen and keys) would be nice. I have also seen others ask for a way to discard rides without saving. Both are good ideas the community has asked for before - I will add this feedback to that. Many of our best ideas begin as feedback from the community so thanks for providing your experiences. I know it was frustrating, but it is useful information for us to have.
