Hammerhead, please allow 3rd parties to make your mount
-
Oh dear. I feared this would happen 4 months ago:
I remain hopeful that a third party will create a mount that fits the Karoo 2, but works better (after licensing the mount design from Hammerhead for an extortionate fee, no doubt).

The supplied mount is junk. I'm on my second already after the first foot broke but have since bought a 3D printed foot off eBay and fitted it to my K-Edge Garmin mount. This is a far more satisfactory mounting solution (and enables me to mount a light underneath). Those threaded metal inserts are an inherent point of weakness in the supplied foot; a problem which the designer of the 3D printed foot overcame. The material this foot is printed from is a far superior plastic that feels as though it will most likely outlive the Karoo 2.
My mounting solution:

The 3D printed foot is available to buy on eBay from a seller in the UK. It's a very high quality product and is designed to fit on a K-Edge Garmin Mount, in place of the plastic Garmin insert. Please read the description in his listing, though, as there are subtle differences between the Garmin K-Edge mounts.
Hopefully, I've provided enough information for anybody interested to search for it on eBay!
FWIW - I don't believe the seller is doing anything wrong by manufacturing and selling these replacement 3D printed feet. He is simply using his initiative and skills to solve a problem that exists (and will continue to exist for as long as Hammerhead keep sending out cheap, low quality, replacements that are barely fit for purpose). If the Hammerhead mount was of better quality, the opportunity to produce these would not exist. This adapter provides an interface for two market leading products to come together on the handlebars of your bike. I don't think too many people would dispute that K-Edge mounts are amongst the best you can buy. Being able to mount my Karoo 2 on a K-Edge mount is the perfect combination and - as stated above - I could not be happier with this mounting solution, especially with a front light slung underneath using the K-Edge Combo Mount Interface (pictured above).
@Philipp, if you still can't find it on eBay please let me know and provide me with your full email address.

Hi Steve, could you please send me more info on the k-edge mount adapter? The standard mount does not fit on my aero bars. I searched on eBay and couldn't find the thing . You can email me directly at djwalker1260@gmail.com. Thanks.

Hello,
Yes indeed: I became aware of the existence of Raceware and their products through a posting by an HH team member. I have meanwhile purchased a Raceware insert for my K-Edge mount, like this: https://www.racewaredirect.co/shop/karoo-2-insert-for-k-edge-mounts/
It sells at £ 12,50 plus shipping and it is worth every penny! Very sturdy and fits perfectly.

Hello Nuno,
What I bought was an insert for my K-Edge mount. This is the link to it on the Raceware website:
https://www.racewaredirect.co/shop/karoo-2-insert-for-k-edge-mounts/
but I noticed that they have meanwhile changed the design (now only two screws, mine has got four). The Barfly insert looks indeed very similar but to be on the safe side I recommend you contact Raceware first. That is what I did and I had an instant reply. My contact is called Martyn and he was very helpful. Good luck!

Bonjour Marcel,
