Xert EBC and K2 Routing

I recently installed the Xert app on my K2 and I have found that I can't have a k2 profile and an Xert workout running at the same time.  For if I do, because I want to have a route and turn-by-turn directions, the K2 "locks" the sensors and the Xert app can't access them - essentially rendering the Xert app useless.  I haven't tried having an "Xert" profile with no sensors (so I can use the routing functions) and even that would not be ideal because I'd have to switch to the K2 profile to see the map.  Does anyone here know how to run both apps or am I not doing it right?

I did send this as a support question just a few minutes ago, but I thought I'd post here to see if someone has been able to "break the code" of running both or of how to get some semblance of K2 routing and Xert workouts while outdoors.
