Modify route while riding

I do not have a Karoo yet, but I'm planing to buy one. There is a frequent use case which I do not know I can do with the Karoo 2. I plan my route with Strava, and import to Dashboard. I go out to the mountains (MTB) and ride on that route. While I'm riding I face an issue on the road (ex. deep mud) and I would like to modify the route there. I tried to modify the route on the Hammerhead dashboard on my iphone. It works, but my question is it is syncing instantly to the Karoo unit (if I use my phone as a hotspot for the Karoo)? Or can I modify the route directly on the Karoo 2 screen? I do not want to drop a pin and rely on the Karoo automatic rout planing, I would like to plan manually or modify manually like on the Hammerhead dashboard.

  Hi Kristof, Thanks for your interest in Karoo. It is possible to modify the route on Karoo directly, or via Dashboard on phone but it would require internet connection on the Karoo via SIM card or Phone hotspot. I hope this helps.

  Does it work when a ride recording is active? My goal is to pause a ride, then modify the route and resume the ride and follow the new modified route. And how can I modify the route on the device? Can I place a route point on the existing route and drag this point to a new position (like on the Dashboard)?

  I don’t think an active route will change on the Karoo if it changes on the dashboard during the ride (I have no idea about editing routes on the unit itself), but you should be able to get it by deactivating the route via the Command center and then selecting the same route in the updated version (add some waiting as necessary to make sure it has updated), no need to interrupt the ride recording in progress.

  It is not possible to edit any route when a ride is in progress. A workaround would be to use the Dashboard and internet connection via Phone hotspot to Karoo and follow the steps from Anna above.

  Hi Ali,

  On the new Karoo (3) itself, is it now possible to change the route (by dragging a waypoint or two, adding some waypoints and deleting others) while the ride is in progress without quitting that ride? That would be SO HELPFUL! If it's not possible, is this a feature that is planning in an upcoming update? Komoot (when used for navigation during a ride) for example handles this very nicely!

  Hello Paul, thank you for reaching out.

  Yes, you can add a Point of Interest (POI) and navigate to it during your ride. You also have the option to modify your route as needed, which can be helpful while riding. Additionally, you can share a location via the Companion App and navigate to it directly.
