As far as I am aways there is no Totals. Go figure how they missed that out, its almost impossible, but I guess that slipped out somehow.

Edited: there is a Total count of kilometers (in Settigns/Bikes). And thats it! One single stat!

I sent a request for this 1 year ago, see Akhil’s answer below:
    To see the Odometer:
    1) Settings
    2) Bikes - and you can see the totals for the specific bikes and the overall of the K2 itself
There are no data fields to display these in the Profiles.
Please also send a Support Request to add some pressure to get an update for displayable data fields. Several would be good (week/month/year/overall). I’m not sure if per bike makes sense as odometer is basically a total.

    Hi,

    Thanks for writing to us!

The odometer data field is surely an interesting suggestion, and I will be sure to share it with my team for their reference! Presently, you will be able to see the total number of kilometers/miles ridden with the Karoo under the bike profiles section in the settings. You can also set up multiple bikes on the karoo to track their individual odometers as well. We get several feature requests each month, and there are a lot of factors that go into our product development decisions, so we’re not able to respond to or deliver on all the requests we receive. But we appreciate your input, and our product team spends time in these forums every week.

Thanks, but just having a grand total for the bike does not provide answers:  How many miles did I ride this month?  Last month?  Last year? etc.

Although K2 provides competent navigation when traveling in new, unknown places ***it is obvious that do not have a handle on your market***.   It is only a fraction of the time that we are riding in unknown places where we are focused on navigation.  The rest of the time we are riding on familiar paths.  We have our navigation unit on to log our rides.  We want to be able to review a summary of all that effort that we spent.

You are already collecting the data.  You are already displaying the data.  All you need to do is filter it by date and display totals.  RideWithGPS does a nice job of that.  Garmin, of course, also does a great job of that. It is a big part of what we have nav heads for.

David, you need to be careful with the “We”. You and possibly the majority of owners do not navigate much, but, for example, I am away from home for over 6 months a year and for much of that time need an infallible GPS Navi. I sent my 1040 back because the navi is prone to “Ride calculation error” that can leave you in real trouble. The K2 is by far the best for navi, you can actually see the route and also where you have been, not like the Garmin.
HH is obviously lacking in the Dashboard and stats area, but Garmin has been going much longer and has “55” different navi devices and has therefore spent much more on these features. Too much in my opinion and not enough on the bugs in the head-unit (1040).
The biggest culprit is SRAM, they have done absolutely nothing since the takeover. There has been zero investment in HH and it’s K2. They are a big company and should have upgraded the K2 stats & Dashboard to reflect Garmin; e.g. Reports, Calendar, Performance Metrics etc. I think it is obvious that something is going on at HH at this time, I wouldn’t be surprised if SRAM are planning to divest HH.

But as mentioned above, send a Service Request about this, the more the merrier and Prod. Dev. may take it up. It is obvious from their answer to me that this would not be the case based on my SR.

MIkeF, thanks for your balanced approach.  I am completely with you on the importance of navigation, and on how Garmin is way behind in most aspects of navigation compared to our K2.  My wife and I go on one or two Santana bicycle cruises a year in different places, including Greece, Vietnam and Cambodia, and Portugal.  We got rid of our Garman Edge because its navigation operated at a tortoise-inspired pace.  Whether following the route through a city, or a rice paddy, or the backtrails through Angkor Wat the Garman Edge could process fast enough for adequate navigation.  To make matters worse, once you made a wrong turn it recalcuated its own version of getting you to the finish point.  What we wanted was to be returned to the curated route as soon as possible.

The K2 was all we were hoping for when it comes to navigation.

But..... having said that, we still want summary statistics, even for the trips where we were absolutely and totally dependent on K2 for navigation.  i.e., friends ask as how far rode while in Portugal?  How much elevation gain did we accomplish (BTW, it was a lot, for us).

I could get me old 10-key adding machine out and run a tape to get the numbers, but it this day and age??  Having been in software product development my entire career, adding a total line at the bottom of the rides summary page on the web console seems pretty easy.  They are processing each row of the database to display the data for each ride.  While that is being done, just keep a running summary of the the three columns.... then display another row at the end.  The only other thing you need is an optional date filter for the rides to be displayed.

I also agree with your observation that SRAM is milking what is left of Hammerhead.  They probably realize by now that for bicycle nav heads, the price necessary to support feature improvements, map updates (way overdue), and hardware upgrades is closer to what Garmin charges vs what Hammerhead charges.  As you say, it is becoming obvious that there just isn't be enough money in it for them over the long run to keep it viable.

Just a quick note on my situation so as not to cheat the conversation:
Whilst I sent the 1040 back, I still have my 1000 and I ride with two head units!
The K2 is for Navi and if I need/want to check the map.
The 1000 is my main stats device and I use Connect to upload to Strava. (The K2 only uploads to SRAM AXS, but I only occasionally look at these. I do however like the K2 ride overview page, I think it is actually better than Connect and has a few stats in addition; e.g. “Avg. Grade” which is one of the main metrics I use for ride performance.)

Even if HH upgrade the K2 & Dashboard to the same level stats-wise as the Garmins and Connect, I will continue with the two head units. I have them displaying different DF’s and so have all the ride stats in view when I do not have the K2 in map mode. In map mode I can obviously use the Garmin for the major ride info.
This also helps when you have winter gloves, no swiping.
I have the Garmin screen showing the Elev. Gain. as this is a major gripe of the K2, which by general consensus is way too high. (I don’t care about the weight and slightly packed handlebar.)

I therefore do not have the same level of frustration and annoyance as you. I fully appreciate your frustration and as you state, it would be a relatively easy upgrade to make.

(Ok sorry, not a quick note!)
