I have the same issues with my Specialized Creo Sl and the Karoo3.
With my former Karoo2 I had no issues.

The burn rate is a data which can comes from the bike via ANT LEV protocol. If the bike sends it the Karoo shows it. I have a Specialized Turbo Levo which didn't send the burn rate until a recent software upgrade (on the bike).

    I got a Giant e-bike (Reign E+, MY2022, Syncdrive Pro 2 motor), connected to my Karoo2.

Seems like the Giant Smart Gateway does not provide burn rate and motor/combined power, the Karoo shows here something like 'No ebike Pwr' in the data fields, other e-Bike data are ok.

I can only see the power data (obviously riders power) in the Karoo. As far as I know, this is part of the ANT+ power meter interface, and not included in the ANT+ LEV for e-bikes. The Giant SG 'emulates' here a power meter, same principle applies for the cadence.

In first instance, the power data shown in the Karoo were way off, most time in the range of 8-15w, even uphill with 15% ascent. After some Giant and Karoo updates, about 2 month ago, I can now see reasonable power values. Unfortunately, I did a Giant and a Karoo update simultaneously at that time, not sure, which update finally solved this issue. But I guess it was the Giant update, because the Karoo just displays the interfaced values.

But there is still an issue left with the power data: I can see sporadic peaks of 2356w. It's always exactly the same value, and it's always only for 1 second, hard to see on the Karoo during a ride, but visible in the ride data afterwards.

The peaks happen when I switch the motor assist level from 0 (motor support off) the a level >0, usually some seconds later. There is not always such a peak when I switch from 0 to >0 (I ride very often with assist level 0, still trying to improve my fitness), but the peaks happen only after such a switch.

To proof this, I did a ride of about 45km, assist level 0 all the time -> no such peaks in the ride data. And a ride with assist level always >=1 (but changes from 1-5), again no peaks.

I've reported this to the Giant service (already in first instance, when I had the 8-15w values), with several updates about the peaks, and asked few times for a feedback. But I only got some generic mails (with a ticket number), saying that my mail was forwarded to the support team or that they are still working on it. No real feedback, even after I told them that it's now working, with only the peak issue left. No reply at all, not sure whether a Giant service/support exists.

I've also asked HH whether they could implement a kind of a filter and ignore the 2356w peaks, but very unlikely that this will happen.

    Nice post.

It was the bike update that fixed the power issue, ver low power from the bike on a garmin computer since I owned the bike.

Didnt notice it had been fixed until I connected it up with a Giant Dash (disapointing gamble on that one), Garmin also record the huge power spike but, not as bad as recording 5 to 15 watts all the time. surely a burn rate could be calculated by the Karoo, simple maths.
