    Hi Enderthor

    Great idea!

I just installed your app, unfortunately it didn't work. My remote didn't connect to the Karoo.

I understand, that this is beta-software, but maybe I'm doing something wrong?

I'm using a Karoo3 with newest firmware and a Garmin-Edge Remote. I also restarted the device.

Hello Michael I suppose you've the last release (v1.1, the old one has a bug).

If you have the new release, please uninstall and install again. Then restart the Karoo (off - on)

Try to restart the garmin remote (sometimes it has in its cache last gps). You only need to push two buttoms at the same time (until flashing) and try again.

KRemote only works (if you have this option checked) if the ride is on or paused, then you have to start a ride if you want to check (or disallow this option).

    Regards

    Hi Enderthor

Thank you for the fast reply.

    It's working now!

I used the app on my last ride, it's really great to use a RC to skip through the screens.

@enderthor I really like the idea of this extension. I do not have a Garmin Edge Remote as they are quite expensive. I wondered if your Extension would also work for a cheaper 'alternative: RC Button such as this one:

Not sure about the programmable element. Thanks for assisting.

    Umm!I don’t know but I think I’ll buy it and test because it’s a cheaper option…

@enderthor very kind. I love the idea. Riding my mountain bike and road bike I am always hesitant to swipe the screen at speed. If the cheaper remote works, please let me know and I will buy and enjoy the capability. Thanks again.

Bump to v1.14, with new Karoo version you can configure kremote to showmap in any screen.

    Hello,
Thank you for the app! I tested it today with the Garmin remote, and on the same route, the performance was quite inconsistent.

The remote that Marcus Mason suggests is also available on AliExpress: https://fr.aliexpress.com/item/1005006023765467.html

    Hi Enderthor,

I bought a Garmin Edge Remote, and have attempted to pair with KAROO 3. Unfortunately, it does not pair. The remote flashes Green/Red, however the Sensor cannot be found. I have latest KAROO software, App Version and new battery in the remote. All other Ant+ sensors are turned off. Any help in resolving the issue is truly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Micheal, David, your thoughts and experiences also very welcome.

Just to add, I have uninstalled and reinstalled App (V1.4), and rebooted KAROO. But problem persists. Thank you.

UPDATE. I have managed to pair the remote. It doesn't show in 'Sensors', but works regardless. I was having difficulties with it's operation also, that was until I realised that when KAROO is in 'Auto-Pause' mode the remote doesn't connect. Or at least, connects sporadically at best. With 'Auto-Pause' off, it works fine. I have not managed to find out how to allow the app/remote to work in all situations and screens, including when not in 'Ride' mode yet (as per the Readme), so after advice to enable this function please. Thank you.

Hello! Thanks for your repport. The problem is Hammerhead doesn't provide any method to detect if Ride App is on screen. I used another.. but it was not working fine (auto-pause behaviour). I've change the code (new release) and KRemote works now in every screen. I don't know if this solve the problem and I cannot test this week (working out ;) )... if someone can check it?

@Enderthor, Tested the extension. Works on all screens as you designed. Also during Auto-Pause. Absolutely brilliant! Can easily switch between screens now, without taking my hands off the bars. Much safer. Super happy. Great invention. Thank you.

Has anyone had the chance to test the TOWILD remote with the KRemote extension created by Enderthor yet? Thanks!

Any chance this extension will work with SRAM blips? https://www.sram.com/en/sram/models/ec-blip-b1

These integrate very well with my handlebars but I do not have any SRAM shifter or derailleur to act as a headend to connect the blips and control my Karoo 3. The question is, can the blips be integrated independently using Kremote? thanks!

No, i'm sorry. I cannot do anything because blips cannot work alone (by SRAM design). They need to be paired with some "control unit"

    Sorry

@D Fel you don't need any extension to make sram blips work with Karoo. You just need to pair with device and set button controller from SRAM app or Karoo device.

I made them work with mine. Left blip = Lap / Right blip = Swap page / Double button press = Ring Bell

Hey Diego, so the Karoo recognizes the blips out of the box without having to set them up with the SRAM app or connect them to any other SRAM components? Or do you have electronic SRAM shifters or derailler to help set them up.

No, blips only can paired with other SRAM core (for example derailleur). Then you can add this derailleur and use blips in karoo

D Fel! In my case, I paired them with my AXS groupset and my Karoo 3.

I guess I misunderstood your previous comment. Now I realize you want to pair them straight to Karoo. I'm afraid you need to pair them with a groupset first.

I don't know if this works... perhaps you can ask for a groupset (to a friend) just to setup and then it will work by themselves, because they are supposed to work as independent sensors afterwords.

Yes, LAP is the Back option .. Back button has different options depends on your ride state.. LAP is one of them

Thank you. Bought a Garmin Remote yesterday and tried it. Works well, but sometimes for no reason very slow reacting on input... it takes 2-3 seconds to react to an input. How come?

Does nobody of you experience this? The 2-3 seconds delay makes the extension snd remote almost unusable.

Hello Rent, I'm working in a new version, perhaps the new one works better for you. But, current kremote works fine but sometimes you can have some "lags". This happen because Karoo GPS prioritize some operations ...and extensions/external ANT  aren't one of them..  But this happens sometimes.. one of six or one of eight...(or less)

What version do you have (kaoo 2, new karoo? )? Do you have a lot of extensions installed and using?

I have a new relase 2.0 and is big. It's a complete redesign, now (theoretically because I only have one remote and it's Garmin) it's compatible with all ANT remotes, whether it's Garmin or any other. Besides being able to have more than one. It allows you to scan the commands so if you have an ANT remote with 5 buttons, you can assign 5 different options.

The operating code has also been redesigned to be resistant to karoo failures and to reduce the lag that, on certain occasions, appeared when the karoo was a bit more loaded. Now it works fast, really fast.

It is still not compatible with Bluetooth... I have a version but the battery consumption is higher (which makes sense partly because the charm of ANT devices is that they are very simple, consume little, the library is optimized... etc... for me, I don't need it and I think having a remote (although it costs 50 euros new, you can find them for around 30... it's a great advantage... for me, it's the most important thing... being able to change the screen without risking your life) there are Bluetooth remotes on AliExpress for 7 euros... so I will try to make a Bluetooth version...

    Very good work! Much appreciated.
Tried it quickly and it is much faster and more reliable than before.
Need to try it longer, and especially test possible lags when the renote is not used for longer time during rides (some kind of sleep mode?)
