Cycling on footpath
In OSM, "footpaths" don't exclude cycling by default. Where I am residing, cycling on footpaths is allowed. I understand there are differences in rules in regards to cycling on footpaths.
To cater to the different needs, could we have a feature toggle or preference setting in Karoo to allow/disallow routing on footpaths, rather than the one size fit all approach? This would make Karoo much more useful for navigation.

Hi Stanley. Maybe if you plot the route on the footpath, it works (with other app/tool... or disabling routing in dashboard). But it isn't what you want...
Same thing here with motorways, dashboard router don't want you in the motorway, even if you tap/click exactly there.
I posted this related thing a year ago: https://support.hammerhead.io/hc/en-us/community/posts/17535011193371-Following-a-plotted-route-on-a-motorway
A bit of opening to other kind of osm highways could be really good, maybe with some config as you suggest, to override the basis. Or just look for the osm tag "bicycle=yes" in those kind of highways, that don't have it by default, though it requires a better detailed map... so we all the osm community have to work on it.
Regards.

Thanks Fernando. Fully agree that there should be an option to overwrite the default routing behaviour. Dashboard could propose a route based on the default map tagging but should allow user to overwrite if one specifically chooses a different motorway or surface path. Until this is in placed, I find it simply easier to use other tools for route planning .. myself i am using komoot.
The interesting thing is on OSM portal, it proposes a route that includes footpath without "bicycle=yes" .. so even OSM is not strict about the tagging. A route surface toggle would work best to individual's needs and support auto re-routing on Karoo.
It's a pity that your post on motoway did not elicit a response from Hammerhead. That would make the product truly awesome.
