Hi Gregory, we understand how useful it would be to send GPX files and locations to Karoo via Bluetooth, especially when there’s no internet connection. This is a great suggestion, and we’ll share it with our product team for consideration in future updates. Your idea about sending a geo point as a POI is also very helpful. Thanks again for taking the time to share this with us.

On a recent bikepacking trip, I changed plans while riding in an area with no cellular service. I had an updated route available in another app on my phone, and exported the GPX file to the Hammerhead app to send it to my Karoo.

    The transfer failed with:
    “Transfer failed”
“Please check your phone’s internet connection”

Later, once I was back in cellular range, I retried the exact same transfer and it worked. I could see the GPX uploading to “My Routes” over the internet, then syncing down to the Karoo.

It would be extremely useful if GPX transfer from the Hammerhead app to the Karoo could work fully offline when the phone and Karoo are already connected locally, for example over Bluetooth or Wi-Fi.

Karoo is a great tool for maps and routing. Offline GPX transfer would make it much more flexible for bikepacking.

I agree this would be great to have.

Alternatively or in addition, the extension SDK could be extended with a way to initiate navigation along a list of waypoints. The on-device routing engine would then calculate the best possible path and TBT instructions to connect the waypoints. It could be used by extensions to provide offline GPX import or advanced stuff like a UI to allow the user to build a route along multiple stops on-device.
