  I think Hammerhead will continue cooperating with companies and introduce extension like Xert in the official store.

  Hobbyists like me will also try to build extensions for features that they'd like to have on the Karoo (e. g. an elevation profile that includes POIs, go pro integration...). Many interesting features will require SDK support by Hammerhead though (e. g. auto radar turn on when it detects something), so Hammerhead might as well spend the effort to implement them themselves natively.
