Custom Workouts
AnsweredHi,
I'm not a Trainingpeaks Premium user and therefore I can't use the Workouts functionality.
Would it be possible to allow custom workouts to be uploaded to the Dashboard?
It would make the most sense to use the .zwo XML format, as there are freely available workout generators for these online (along with existing workouts for just about anything on https://whatsonzwift.com/workouts/)
Without some method of allowing workouts to be loaded to the device, it's going to be a pretty limited uptake due to the TrainingPeaks requirement.
Thanks,
Stuart

Well done on getting this function implemented.
However I agree with the above, I use Todays Plan which functions almost exactly the same as Training Peaks but as Hammerhead don't support this platform yet it appears I cannot use this workout function at all which is a real disappointment. A direct upload would be a good workaround until Todays Plan is supported hopefully.
Todays plan supports the following workout formats to export:
Garmin FIT files.
Zwift ZWO files
Stages Dash SWO files
Trainer road MRC files
And ERG files.
If any of these files can be uploaded to the dashboard as workout files it would be a workable solution.

Hi!
Thumbs up for the workout-function on Karoo.
Could You please, please implement an Workout-Upload functionality to the Hammerhead Dashboard. I am not willing to be forced to a premium TP-Membership to be able to use the workout-mode on my Karoo.
Direct linkage to Zwift to be able to load Zwift Workouts to the device would be fantastic!!!
Cheers, Christian

Same here, trainings peak is nice but not really affordable - they only have a 2 week trial period, you should at least get a 6 month trial with your purchase of the Karoo 2 (like you offer on some other apps) in the end I do not want to be forced to a premium account as Christian said.
It would be marvelous if you could indeed work to implement a workout functionality inside the dashboard
i also would be a fan that one could also create profiles inside the dashboard itself and not only on the device

Same here.
I like to upload (self created) workouts to the headunit without subscribing and paying for any platform.
There is a free online workout builder https://zwofactory.com/. It allows also to create an URL from the workout.
It would be great if I coud send the workout by copying the url in the dashboard to the headunit in the same way like I copy a KOMOOT route via URL to the headunit.
This feature would really improve the use of the KAROO2.
cheers!

Ali, this is just another integration with a paid 3rd party website! This really doesn't address the issue.
A simple ability to upload ZWO or ERG files to the head unit is all that is required. I'd imagine that you are already parsing one of these formats anyway.
This really is basic functionality, which is a matter of a day or two for a decent developer to implement.
Sorry for the frustrated tone, but I can't tell if Hammerhead are on a kickback from TrainingPeaks/Xert or simply missing the point!
-
Why not allow a simple manual workout transfer as either a file transfer, email or whatever else? Do all of these paid integrations (subscription) pay for the lack of such integration? Except for maybe the maps, Karoo has less to offer for me compared to Elemnt - there I can at least upload a file.

Its possible but the only way I know is to use a free Trainingpeaks account linked to the Hammerhead account and create a workout there from scratch. But with the free account you can only make a workout the day before the session not before. Annoying I cannot just download a TCX file from my Todays Plan account and upload it to the Hammerhead dashboard but whatever. I've used this Hammerhead Karoo 1 for over 2 years now and still waiting for this manual upload function to be fully implemented.
I doubt it will happen unless a lot more people complain about it.

I've found a way to do this! For free!!
Set up a free account on Trainer Day, where you can either select one of the many many existing workouts in their library, or you can define your own workout. Within the Trainer Day app, you can set up a connection to your free Training Peaks account. You can then select the 'send to' button on the workout, and select Training Peaks.
Head over to your Hammerhead app dashboard, select Workouts, and (once you've set up a connection between Hammerhead app and your free Training Peaks account), you'll see the workout listed there ready to use.

Hi everyone, We agree that the ability to upload custom workouts to the unit without any third-party platforms is certainly a valuable enhancement for us to add. Even though this is something already in our Roadmap, it is not in our immediate plans. We expect to see this enhancement somewhere down the line and considering the number of requests we have received, we expect this project will be prioritized. Right now, we do not have a concrete timeline to share it with you. We appreciate your understanding in this case as we will disclose more details once they are ready for development.

Good follow up , Hari.
For those of us that follow the outcome of requests, suggestions, and issues, and use the "FOLLOW" button to see how things progress , responses like these above help make our initial concerns a valuable part of using the devices, and not just energy and curiosity spun off into the ether.
I hope you and the team are staying safe, and thanks for the help.

Hi,
I just received my Karoo 2 and noticed this issue. To not be able to just upload custom workouts and be bound to a platform like TrainingPeaks, I mean - come on. I purchased this unit because of the underlying open Android platform and because I like to tinker with stuff, as probably most of the user base of the Karoo. I want to use my own, custom workouts.I am using intervals.icu btw, and since there doesn't exist a 3rd party integration for this platform I would like to at least be able to upload workouts I created and exported there to my Karoo. Like I am able to do on my Garmin. And on my girlfriends Wahoo.
The workaround to go via Trainer Day -> TrainingPeaks as described above is better than nothing for sure, but: Please prioritize this!
Thank you -
It's been a year now since the workout feature have been introduced, I would love to see more options to upload your workout. I use join.cc for training and I can export workouts from there to Zwift .zwo, Wahoo .fit or Garmin Connect format. Would be great if one these file formats gets supported, so you don't have to have another subscription to connect to Hammerhead.

I just got my Karoo 2 and wanted to do a workout for my first ride, but I have to build every workout again in trainingpeaks which adds so much steps. Working out is already hard enough haha.
It would be amazing if I could import a .fit, garmin connect or .zwo file to the dashboard for workouts. I hope this gets an update soon!

Hi folks
Can someone tell me, if i set up a free TP account and build my workouts there, is there a way of having them all on my unit to chose on the fly? I have heard / read that it has to synch via a calendar ie i have to plan a specific workout for a specific day. I often want to do a workout because i'm doing group training and have been dropped, or i plan a 40 min workout but suddenly only have 30 mins. So, i need to be able to see a library, select and fire up.
I have a load of workouts on garmin connect, which i can build again in TP if needed.
Thanks
Simon

Winter is coming! So gonna train more on my Kickr during the coming period.
On my old Garmin I was able to create custom workouts and follow them. I love my Karoo2, but that a 'basic' feature as custom workouts it not yet available is a big bummer!
Please put this on the road map with some more priority as this topic is here already 2 years.
Or at least provide the means to upload garmin workouts.
Thanks
Floris

Well said @Floris !
I keep checking the fortnightly release notes for some progress on this, but no, luck so far. I realise that different features are important to different people but having a folder with your own workouts to load on the fly doesn't seem like a complex feature to me. I can work with whatever method of building the workouts, as long as i only need to do it once for the K2.
It is the only thing preventing me from trying this unit.
Simon
