Commuting to work and recording it as 1 ride.
CompletedI have the Hammerhead for a while now and the only thing bugging me is the inability to turn the unit off and continue a ride later.
With my previous 4 Garmins, I can ride to work in the morning (32km), PAUSE and turn OFF the Garmin, 8 hours later, I turn it on and it comes up with my PAUSED commute to work, I can then restart it and ride the 32km home, making a 64km commute and nor spamming strava twice a day with 32km rides.
My commutes have been few and far between lately due to injury but just started back and its annoying me again.
Is this not possible with HK ?
I have tried every way I can think, it just keeps coming up as "recovering ride' then saves it. Surely its not that hard.
Thanks in advance.

Hi Billy. We appreciate your inputs and thoughts on this particular feature of how to save the activities. Let me just explain why we do not support continuing an activity after restarting the unit. If you think about it any activity with more than an hour of continued interval would have to be considered as two separate activities. Also unlike some other bike computers, the Karoo is android-based and as with every other android app once you restart your device the apps will also restart.
But I do understand your concern and I will forward your request to the product team to see if this can be made available as the added feature in the future. Take care and stay safe.

Ok, makes sense that if I shut down my Android phone, that everything shuts down.
Making sense that my commute to and from work is looked at as 2 different activities ? Because HK says so...
I also do a few 18-24 hour races a year (Its been the off season here over Summer in Australia and have not done a race since purchasing the HK in November) sometimes I do them as a duo where we are doing 30-45minute laps, doing mixtures of 1 lap, 2 laps, 3 laps ect... So with HK, I will have to record every single seperate stint on the bike as an activity as HammerHead have deemed that an activity, with more than an hour of continued interval has to be considered as a seperate activity ??
Pretty disappointed that a unit so smart and crystal clear does not have this very simple option. Something I didnt look into as I took it for granted obviously.
The choice of linking "2 activities" or more together should be my choice and not something that HK decides.
The spamming of Strava with 2 rides a day to commute to work and back, also for every lap at a 24hr MTB race is ludicrous.
Awesome... looks like I will be going back to Garmin then.
Thanks for the update.

Billy,
I do the same thing you do, but I just don't power off the unit. Yes, it's annoying that the unit will battery drain while asleep for the day, but I still have plenty of battery power to get home. By pausing and just putting the unit to sleep I'm able to upload to Strava as a single activity.
With your big 18-24 your races I don't see why you can't just pause the unit between your "turns". Yes, you can't power off, but you can pause and then resume and you'll have a unified activity at the end. I suppose I understand if the issue is battery life and you're trying to do a 24 hour event on a single charge by powering off and on between each stint. But that seems like a narrow set of circumstances. The Karoo won't force you to create multiple activities unless you insist on fully powering down between laps.
