Covering data - navigation banner and strava live segments
AnsweredI don't understand your new approach, where new options are implemented as large banners covering existing data. Last month has been tough with this underdeveloped navigation banner that cannot be turned off... I look forward for the new update fixing it, but now seeing the announcement of the new strava live segments option and watching videos from the beta version, I see same problem there!
Live segments are needed for sure, but this option seems to appear on all screens, with 0 custom configuration. I hope this is just a beta version and everything will be friendlier on the release date, but after what we got with the navigation banner, I'm afraid of similar problems... Custom configuration is necessary, for example I don't want any popup banner and extra data on my map screen. The best option in my opinion would be to create a separate screen only for strava live segments, and to turn off on another.
Please be cautious and thoughtful with next updates :)

Couldn't agree more, and what I found frustrating is that the live segment popped up over half a data field.
Either use that space or not!
When it comes to segments all I need is a clear map showing me where to go, then how far I have left to go in distance and how much time I have left before the the KOM time completes.

Agreed on this as well. The first thing I noticed with this update is the live segment implementation. To pop up a whole new data page for live segment is a lot better than just popping out a banne, the banner is not easy to read while you are trying to beat your best! Just give a new data page for live segment, the user will also have the option to scroll away if he is not trying to get that segment. At the finish of the segment, please also consider to show a full page result - ahead or behind, by how much, to whom.

If you're working on the pop-out screen for SLS banner, please include basic navigation overlays too. Or at least adjust the center point of the map so that it's still visible.
SLS Orange Banner on current FW (Version 1.198.1007.3) covers the map center point (rider location) so it's easy to miss a turn if a segment includes more than one road. Dismissing the banner is an option (if not trying too hard), but then you lose the effort status.
Thanks for listening and forwarding the needs of riders to the developers.

Hi Ali,
Yes. Thanks for the tip. I've rearranged a profile layout to place the map above the two rows of data fields, i.e. top of screen, and took it out for a test ride. The SLS and notifications banners no longer block the current location on map. Obviously, SLS does overlay the stats during the segment, but, as noted, SLS banner can be simply minimized with a swipe-down.
In conclusion, it takes a bit of user planning to setup the profile screens to work during all modes of user operation.
Cheers.
