I never have it off, but always use autopause with the following situations.

Road riding - I have this set to 3 mph as i will never drop below this even on extremely steep ascents, however when you are a junctions in towns and cities, you quite often have to slowly move forward as cars exit junctions in front of you, therefore you don't want autopause stop/starting all the time affecting your average speed.

Technical Gravel/Mtb riding - I have this set to either to either 1.5mph or stopped as on technical ascents up rocks etc the speed can sometimes drop below 3 mph, so you want this recording not like waiting behind traffic.

    My experience:

I only use 'Auto-pause' for my racing bike.

I often have to walk sections in the forest on a mountain bike, because the navigation system always pauses automatically, even though I am on the way.

Therefore it would be good for me if 'Auto-pause' could be selected per profile.

I always have it on, and I am personally quite happy to have a global switch.

    Keep safe,

    Auto pause on for road
    Auto pause off for MTB
I currently use only one profile, but that is primarily because there is no way to copy a page set and I cannot be bothered to manually do so. If there were a way to copy, I would have two profiles, one for MTB, and one for road, and I would set the autopause there.
Putting this on/off setting for each bike profile also makes sense to me.

Makes no difference to me as I only ride road but do understand the comments made by mtb'ers so would support auto pause being moved to specific profiles. I do have more than 1 profiles but they're all road profiles.

    • Off for recording an Indoor ride
    • On for riding MTB, racebike
    • But too be honest it's fine like it is now. Maybe give us a popup saying that either we are standing still or that movement is detected so we don't forget to either start or stop/pauze a recording if we forgot to enable/disable it by the quick menu settings

I use auto pause on my road bike set at 5kph, a speed I hope not to drop below on a steep climb. Set extremely low or off for the trail.

My preference is to have it per profile - not globally. And the less I have to access settings while riding or changing beforehand, the better for me!

ON for commuting, to have comparable results not depending on differences in red lights between days. Yes, I compete against myself on my commutes.

OFF on road racing and training.

OFF or low threshold for MTB, havent decided what I want there.

Having to manually set this when starting a ride WILL result in forgetting it now and then, with the annoyance that follow. Im all for automation wherever possible. Having the setting as part of the profile means I can set and forget. Please put it back as a profile setting. :)

High threshold for regular (flat) road.
Because I like it to kick in quickly.
Low threshold or 0 for heavy climbing.
I'm really bad at that 😕

I never use auto pause on any of my rides. But if I did, I would be happy using the pull down toggle to turn it on.

Should be an user preference, regardless Road or MTB...
Custom speed value below which Autopause engages.

I always want road bike to have Auto Pause on and MTB to have it off. If you have it default on the profile like it used to be but also on the quick menu I don't see why anyone could be disappointed?

@Per Granbom - I don’t see why there should be extra steps involved to make changes to a profile - simple programming so you start a ride with whatever bike you are using and everything is set to go!

@Ali - program the auto pause to be set on individual bike profiles. Whatever setting riders want, it’s programmed once and we don’t have to think about it. Simple for anyone to make minor adjustments if needed.

For me the need for autopause in profiles is dictated by the MTB courses where I live.

Autopause is great when I am on the road or gravel

For MTB, we have very little public land here so we have to cram 20+ miles of MTB trails into 65 acres of land.  This results in a never ending series of turns which the GPS interprets as frequent stops.

Garmin, and Wahoo products have the same issue so this is not unique to Karoo.  When I rode Garmin, I had to turn this feature off until they moved it to the profiles.  When I started with Karoo, I was relieved to see this in the profile.  Moving this to global settings is a big step backwards in my opinion.

I really appreciate that the Karoo team takes feedback such as this into consideration during their development cycle.  Thank you!  Please put this back in the profile!

I use autopause when road riding or racing. I disable it for MTB or hiking, kayaking, etc.. Would be nice to have it remember the setting per profile.

I also think it’s a good idea to have auto-pause per profile. I also want the GPS sensor to be controlled per profile. Living in Sweden I do a lot of trainer exercises. Then it would be nice have the GPS turned of when choosing the profile Indoor.

Just seconding what everyone here before has said. Auto-pause per profile would be useful because each activity has a different tempo. Hiking and mountain biking are by nature slower than road cycling just because of the terrain. A useful auto-pause triggering speed for hiking might make the auto-pause feature useless on the road bike.

Just received my Karoo2 yesterday, coming from a Garmin 530.

I was really surprised that that the profiles only handle the data screens, where with Garmin you could configure for instance auto-pause, GPS settings for each profile.

This for me really is a no-brainer, because for indoor rides (dual recording with Zwift) I don't have a speed signal, only power, HR and cadence and I want GPS to be off and no auto-pause. Also I would probably want a different auto-pause setting for road biking vs. MTB.

I hope this can be implemented soon, because this really is basic functionality.

It seems the ability of an auto-pause and GPS per profile is a feature users have been requesting for more than half a year, but it has yet to be prioritized and implemented by Hammerhead.  Is this ability on any current development timeline?

Would also like to understand the status of this one. As I wrote above for me this is important functionality and something I really miss after moving from Garmin 530. Besides the data fields it should at least be possible to configure per profile: (1) auto-pause settings, (2) GPS on/off.

It really is not workable to change this manually every time I switch from indoor to outdoor riding. A step further would be to also link a (default) bike to each profile, where for each bike the (default) sensors can be selected. This would maybe also prevent battery drain with the unit not unnecessarily searching for sensors?

Hi All, yes, this is still under plans. However, we need to wait until all the relevant changes and UI/UX components have been updated on the device through software updates. We hope to roll this out soon this quarter.

AS A cyclist who rides both outdoors and indoors through the colder months (25% of the year), with no pattern (pending on the weather) I WOULD LIKE to quickly and easily switch on/off the auto-pause setting, SO THAT I can use it indoors to watch my power balance (3, 10 & 30-sec averages) without it turning itself off automatically, and outdoors so I can stop of a coffee.

Currently, with auto-shutdown (a side effect of auto-pause) the Karoo is NOT part of my indoor cycling routine. Which I think is a missed opportunity. How auto-pause is controlled is not important to me. Making it easy and a natural part of the pre-ride routine is. Per profile is one way it could be done.

    Other things I don't need during an indoor session: GPS off; messages off; light connection off; radar off; speed sensor off; What I do care about during an indoor session: HR on; Power Meter on; Cadence on; Di2 on (screen switching);
