I understand the k2 and s getting smartphone notifications. Is this a software feature that will come to the K1 also or just on K2 ? As I understand it, at launch of the K1 it was promised as a feature but never happened which suggests the hardware was capable. As it’s the main gripe I have with my K1 it will influence my decision to either go to the K2 or something else. Thanks

  Hey Colin. Due to some hardware limitations, we will not be able to deliver smartphone notifications on the Karoo OS. It will only be available on the Karoo 2.

  Thanks for the reply. Firstly I would like to mention that the latest update has been a big plus and thanks to HH for that.

  But I have to take issue with you over the smartphone notifications. People have been asking for it for a long time, DC rainmaker even mentions it being promised from the outset of the K1. At no point has anyone said the hardware is not capable just that it was not in the current pipeline as yet. So that leaves me to think several things may have happened with this and I would like your response.

  1. If the hardware is not compatible then it was never compatible from day 1 so why not say so in the multiple times it’s been asked rather than make statements that it’s for the future if requested enough.

  2. The hardware is capable in some form but as it’s one of, maybe even the main difference between the K1 and k2 feature wise, offering it on the K1 diminishes the k2 especially as an upgrade so it’s not being implemented.

  I’d be interested to know your thoughts.

  Hey Colin. Glad you like the latest update.x We will continue to improve and perfect the karoo software experience.

  Sorry for the inconvenience. I am unable to share the minute details but, we did have it in the pipeline and have been trying to get it to work on the K1. however, due to some hardware limitations that we did not expect, we have come to the result that we are unable to make this feature available on the Karoo 1.
