Hey Ryley. I can confirm that the responsiveness of the Karoo 2 will certainly not be slower than the Karoo.
The unit that was sent to DCR was a Beta unit and the production hardware and software will be superior to that.

As Ray said this was a beta unit and not the finished article from a software side or hardware side

If I look on the known specifications both models use a Quad-core CPU.

    ... the Karoo 1 uses a ARM Cortex-A53 (299 MHz - 1.3 GHz)

... the Karoo 2 CPU-speed seems to be limited to 1.1 GHz

1.1 GHz quad-core sounds like four Cortex-A53 or A7 judging by those low clocks. Those aren’t high performance cores but they should be enough for basic use. It would be nice if you could be more specific about the CPU.

Here is new full blown review https://www.dcrainmaker.com/2020/12/hammerhead-karoo-2-in-depth-review.html

Looking good, except of the map loading. Why is it sooo slow? Those are offline maps so should be fairly quick. For sure much quicker than this.

I can absolutely confirm that the karoo2 performance is slow and choppy. Compared to my karoo, the 2 is a step back in overall performance, it takes a long time to boot up, antagonizing blank screens when you start a ride (for about 10 seconds) and everytime you click a lap reset or ask it to do anything. I don't know if my unit is just bad or if their software is so backwards that everything crawls no matter what you are doing but so far the 2 is a downgrade in everything but size and weight.
