real onboard odometer needed- please include in Karoo 2
AnsweredTo clarify, what I'm referring to I would think would be quite simple. AN ODOMETER- LIKE ON EVERY CAR EVER BUILT. Like on every cycling computer I've owned previously. When the wheels are turning, all total accumulated distance recorded. (BTW, oddly enough, I did notice that my bike is not a car- the number of wheels was a dead giveaway)
I have a nice new Cervelo R3 with Sram Red eTap Hyd, Roval- an upgrade from any previous bike. So I figured time to invest in nicer computer. I was amazed to discover that my Wahoo Bolt had no odo feature. So I started to research Garmin and Karoo. Apparently, no deal- with some juggling in programs off the device, I can get totals of "workout" miles.
What's up? odo feature is on every cycle computer I've had starting at $25. Oh... it's obsolete- no longer needed on superior sophisticated units? Modern, well-healed cycling community is moving on from this silly feature that only knuckle-draggers think they need? I call BS! Even if it were true that odo feature is only wanted by unsophisticated users, it would be wise to include it TO INCREASE SALES to knuckle draggers. Users who think it's uncool to have an odo COULD SIMPLY NOT USE IT, and configure the Karoo so they wouldn't have to see this loathsome feature.
However, onboard odo is not an outdated function. It is an essential, simple, elegant, and unduplicatable function. The fact that it has been omitted on all/most high-end cycle computers is VERY conspicuous. Trying to force users to go online and stumble around endlessly, trying changing aftermarket programs- many with paid subscriptions? None of them can come close to duplicating this butt-simple function. Again, those who are ashamed of it could configure it off their screens.
I'm older and not a super computer guy- nor do I see the need for all cycle computer users to have massive interfacing to these elaborate aftermarket programs. There should be no doubt in anyone's mind that including odo feature would make a great cycle computer even better. Maybe I'm reaching here, but seems to me that modern cycling computer designers are shooting customers (and possibly themselves) in the foot by omitting odo and trying to promote aftermarket sales. Am I missing something?
Please include odometer function in your cycling computers. Anyone who agrees with me, please join me in this request.
Thanks, Kip.......

Hey Kip.
We do have the odometer to read distance on the Karoo. Since Karoo and Karoo 2 has the same Operating system - KarooOS, this feature would replicate on the Karoo 2 as well. I have the pictures replciated on my Karoo. It shows the odometer readings recorded under bike profile.
The first picture shows the odometer reading for the bike "Pitch" which has recorded the odometer reading of 130.9 km
The second picture gives you an overall odometer readings for the total bikes and the distance riden on Karoo.
