Discard Ride
CompletedWhen experimenting with various things on the Karoo, I often have to simulate a ride from my desk. When I end the (simulated) ride, I am forced to save the ride. There appears to be no way of backing out of this step. It looks as though I am forced to save the ride, and then delete it from my profile.
I don't want to save these simulated rides to my profile because they automatically get uploaded to Strava and Ride with GPS as 0 km rides (because I've not moved anywhere).
Is there a way to prevent saving a ride upon completion? On the ride summary screen, I see a check mark icon to confirm saving it. Why is there not an equivalent X icon to delete it at this point?

@Alex:
My mouth is agape at the rudeness of your comment. You obviously have no understanding of the concept "the customer is always right." And, in the course of defending K2, you have made a number of unfounded and scurrilous personal attacks on me.
I should not have to explain the concept of "the customer is always right," but evidently I do, so let me break it down for you at a simple level. A business has no claim on customers. It can make no demands of customers. If customers are dissatisfied, they will "vote with their feet" and spend their money elsewhere. Thus, the mantra of "the customer is always right" merely reflects the truism that if a business wants to attract customers, it must provide what customers want. This is not a value judgment. It is not a normative statement, as you imply. Rather, it is a description of reality.
It is Hammerhead, not the customer, that has the "burden of proof," so to speak. If Hammerhead is unresponsive to customer demands, or is dismissive, then, "fair" or not, it will not prosper. In my opinion, the K2, at this time, is marginal at best. In fact, it feels like a beta product. It is readily apparent that I am not alone in this judgment. Hammerhead has very little market share, and it will never grow its market share unless it offers a product that is at least as good, if not better, than competing products.
Ths is a support forum, not a Facebook fan page. The purpose of this forum is for customers to provide feedback on the product, not to give Hammerhead "attaboys." Criticism may be unpleasant at times, but it is essential for any product to improve. If you are uninterested in participating in a process that, of necessity, will involve criticism (including harsh criticism at times), then keep in mind that no one is forcing you to read this forum.
To their credit, Hammerhead created this forum to give customers a place to address concerns. However, in my experience, Hammerhead has a tone deaf approach to customer feedback compared to companies engaging in best practices.
You know, not everything is about politics. Your attempt to link my criticisms of K2 to the business practices of Walmart and so-called "Karen" memes is apalling. Your allegations that I am "abusive," that I have "fantasies of omnipotence," and that I have "lost my grip" are digusting and reprehensible. You don't know me. Shame on you.
Rather than apologizing to Hammerhead, you owe an apology to me and the countless other critics of the K2 providing legitimate constructive criticism of the product and Hammerhead's level of customer support.

@Edgar - In general, I agree. My comments on this forum are focused on how K2 could be improved. I would really love to be able to use my K2 as my go-to computer. I love its beautiful screen, and it has much promise, but for now the shortcomings are too great to overlook.
I do not believe that my comments on the features and operation of K2 contain personal criticisms of other commenters. To the extent I have made mistakes, I apologize. However, after being so rudely attacked by Alex, I felt it was imperative to defend myself. The purpose of this forum is to air concerns about the K2, and it is certainly chilling if people making critical comments of K2 and Hammerhead can be so viciously attacked with comparisons to Walmart, "Karens," being told to "get a grip," etc.

Hi All,
We would like to assure you that though we may not chime into every thread or post on the community, Hammerhead is always open to feedback & suggestions. Most of our product development since the Karoo 1 launch has been possible or has drawn inspiration by addressing the needs of our users.
This, however, is not on a priority list right now and as clarified by Ali & Abhishek we do have an alternative way to discard the rides. We are focused on currently improving the reliability of our software, improving sensor support & implementing new features :)
I do assure you that I will be discussing this with my team as a point under improving our UI/UX experience.

Apple is a great example of company doing things in they own way and I think that works for them. I also do not believe in this whole "customer has always right" mantra but I believe that every customer has a right to be listen with attention. But also company has right to do things as they see fit. If Hammerhead would listen and implement every customer request we would have basicaly another Garmin bike computer. I can speak only for myself but I enjoy that K2 is so different from Garmin (and Wahoo).
Some posts here are valid feedbacks and suggestions but many of them looks (for me, of course) as complaints that K2 is not Garmin but with better screen. Maybe it would be easier to poke Garmin to put better screen in their computers? ;)

Hi team,
New to the K2 - love it so far!
But, I would love to see a function where you can discard the ride before it is auto uploaded. I understand you can disable that, but i feel like it defeats the purpose of it.
Couple of examples:
1. Removing the device off the mount and accidentally starting a new ride.
2. Playing around with the setups and profiles.
3. Using the device when you're on the trainer (also mentioned above)
I like the idea mentioned above for using the existing tick to confirm ride save, but sliding for delete.
Or holding a button it to "confirm ride delete" then excepting with a tick.
Thanks HH.
Cheers,
Julian

I’m only getting started with the Karoo 2 and very much like what I see so far.
I would like to see a better solution to discarding a ride too. Also something that makes it less easy to start a ride accidentally in the first place, which seems too easy to do and if anything, for me at least, is probably more annoying.

While i do find the inability to delete a ride a little annoying, what is problematic for me coming from Karoo1 is that I keep on starting rides by accident. I am guessing any tap of the bottom right button immediately starts a ride which then has to be stopped deleted / removed from strave.. is this just me?

+1 for being able to delete a ride. Why on earth is there no trashcan? So rides will never be permanently deleted at once. It is so simple. It just works everywhere els: Android, PC, Mac, Wahoo, Strava etc. etc.....
Please People at Hammerhead: Implement this. It also would have saved my lost ride from today I guess: Somehow it is not saved after the ride. But how? Or did I just by accident discovered and used a feature that does not exist: Deleting a ride directly after a ride? That was a very important ride for me, and I want it back so badly! But I cannot find it. It is not in the FIT file folder. A trashcan would be nice......:-(
