Feature request: Default Commute Tag on Profile
Hello,
Problem:
Currently, the Commute ride tag must be applied manually after every ride, even if the ride is always a commute (e.g., home ↔ work). This adds friction and makes it easy to forget tagging, which reduces the usefulness of commute-based stats in Strava and other platforms.
Proposal:
Allow users to set a default ride tag (e.g., Commute) that is automatically applied whenever a specific profile is used. For example:
-
“Commute” profile → automatically tagged as Commute
-
“Gravel” profile → no default tag (manual selection still possible)
Benefits:
-
Saves time and avoids forgetting to set the commute tag
-
Ensures consistent data in Strava, TrainingPeaks, etc.
-
Brings parity with other platforms/devices that support auto-commute tagging
Implementation idea:
Add a simple “Default Ride Tag” dropdown in the profile settings (next to Ride Type). Users who don’t want this feature can leave it blank and tag rides manually as before.
Best Regards
Mac
