Navigation doesn't care about ascends or descends

My limited experience from using navigation rerouting is that it doesn't care about flatness of the road - it just routes to *shortest* path, not most convenient. i.e. if there is a 5m shorter path over a mountain, it will direct you there instead of the flat one.

I think it works in "car navigation" mode where flatness is not important. Basically, it should take it into account when proposing new routes.

Or is it just me?

  interesting, this hasn't been an issue for me but I don't cycle anywhere where climbs are particularly challenging if I go off course... but if i did live somewhere with real hills (I'm not being modest, it is really flat around here) this would be an issue for sure!

  Hi All, the default is Hybrid which is like Road but more likely to take cycleways, trails, paths. Will not stay on roads/trails with bad surfaces as long as gravel or mountain bike.

  Is my this really an answer to my request/question? I am saying that it should take into account path profile when rerouting.
