UK Map Route Creation Issues
Hi There!
It appears that now the route creation via the dashboard is getting worse. Recently I created a route using the 'Road Cycling' option from one point to another and it still wanted to take me down forest tracks and even down a dead-end road. So the only way is to go back and manually double-check the entire route which sort of misses the point of quick route calculation.
In the UK we have a collection of routes under the name of the National Cycle Network and the route mapping system doesn't pick these up either. Is this a general issue with Mapbox or just something we have to get used to?
In the meantime I now use www.plotaroute.com or www.routeloops.com which picks up the NCN and keeps the road bike on paved surfaces and not down forest tracks. I then export the route and import it into the dashboard, quite a long winded approach for something that is meant to be built for cyclists.
So, would there be any chance of being able to use a different map for route creation like OpenStreet map?
Thanks

I get similar issues with this too with the addition that the planner tries to route along footpaths, that are not even a legal right of way for cycling!
as for using route to home, on the Karoo 2, well that is even worse, it has attempted to route me through several quarries and gravel pits, a prison, many private gardens and private farm roads… Last weekend it got do list that it took many minutes to work out a route, even though I was on a legal Byeway.
Beginning to be getting very frustrated with these issues, beginning to wonder if I made the right choice with my purchase.

Bumping this. Similar issues when re-routing. Was out at the weekend and had to deal with road closures, Karoo 2 kept trying to take me on dirt tracks and at points through hedgerows (?!)
In the end I had to turn off navigation and rely on my partners Garmin as there is no option (as far as I can see) to tell the Karoo to only re-route along paved surfaces.

Largely given in using it for navigation, the final straw for me was being rerouted onto an airport taxiway and main runway…. I didn’t take the route. The algorithm results remind of a free sat nav app I tried on an iPhone many years ago, that was rubbish, it too used the same open source maps as its base. Been trying a a Garmin at the moment to see what it’s navigation is like.
