Android phone notifications - flaky at best...

Hello,

Had my device for several months now and, apart from the terrible Strava Live Segment implementation, have one problem that frustrates the hell out me - phone notifications!

I have a Samsung Galaxy S20+ and, no matter what I do, phone notifications only seem to work on the odd ride. Most of the time I get nothing. 

Whilst I feel the Karoo outperforms my Garmin Edge 1000 in almost every department, phone notifications are one area where the rival product didn't fail.

Why is it so difficult?

Is anyone else suffering?

  Just saw this in a pinned thread of known issues...

  Phone notifications working partially: We are analysing the issue and we have identified the root cause. We are working towards a fix for this issue

  really a fraud according to the price of the device. 

  i just changed the karoo 1 with a karoo 2 and almost nothing has changed, excepet the weight

  Took me a while to work it out but now I get notifications all the time on my Samsung M31.

   

  had to make sure that the Karoo app was being allowed to continue running while the phone was off. Went into the settings>Apps>Karoo Companion make sure notifications are allowed and that no permissions are denied it. Then when going on a ride open the karoo companion app and then go for a ride as long as the app is open it should work ( took me 2-3 rides to figure it out, as app was going to sleep when phone was screen off )

  I have a Pixel 6 and sometimes notification work and sometimes they don't. I have tried everything to make sure that they work properly such as opening up the companion app before I ride. I keep checking the K2 during the ride and it always shows that it is paired with the Pixel 6. It is really disappointing as this is quite an important function for me.  

  I also have to manually pair the phone in settings on the K2 before I ride rather than it automatically pairing.  

  Just wondered if this is a known bug and something that Hammerhead are working on, or will it be like this for as long as I have the device.

  I have a Pixel 6 Pro and the same problem. At the moment I tried to reproduce the bug but it seems it is randomly working and not working. At first I thought it would be a cellular signal problem but it isn't.
